Blackberry Connect for Treo- in the wild!
We've known that RIM was
its Blackberry Connect service to the Treo for some time now--heck, Palm even says as much on its own website. Still,
we're always skeptical of a company's claims until we actually see a product in the wild and in the hands of someone we
know and/or trust (too many instances of delayed releases, Photoshop fakes, and habitual vaporware, we suppose), which
is why we were stoked to see a bunch of BBC for Treo shots taken by Andrew over at Treonauts (who must have been so
excited by his find that he misspelled "BBC" in his test mail, as you can see). He reports from 3GSM that
versions of the software for both Palm- and Windows-flavored Treos are ready for primetime, and that a release of some
sort would seem to be imminent. Click on to see a WM5 screencap, and here for the full set...

I can't wait for this -- I've recently come to need a palm-based device for work, and since we have BES, this is going to be the perfect marriage of technologies for me. :D
Hm... I don't know if you are joking or not, but he didn't mispell BBC, he correctly spelled BCC as in Blind Carbon Copy.
BB might not be around much longer for this to be of any use
I kinda am starting to want a Blackberry, but EVERYONE in NYC has one...I am waiting for the Nokia E61... its way dreeeaaaamy
If this is actual, I would be completely stoked. I'm in a company totally bound to the BBerry. I'm the lone wolf running a 650. I love my treo, and do not want to lower myself to an inferior machine. Not just how much the damn thing cost me, but I just want the functionality on my treo.
I too am very excited about this software. My company has a Black Berry mail gateway server and I have never been a fan of the Black Berry OS. Running this on my Treo would put me in heaven. I do have a question how did they get around the DUN on the Treo for push email? The Treo is not always connected to the internet as some believe. You still have to log on to using DUN to get to the internet.

Is blackberry connect already available for other Windows Mobile phones other than the Treo? This is what I need. Our major client uses blackberry so we do too, just so we can talk PIN with them. If blackberry connect is avail on a WM5 phone and can do PIN-to-PIN, that is that way I am going. If so, what devices is it already available on?
Sounds great! Use a blackberry device now, but can see myself getting a Palm device some day.
