Not that we're terribly surprised,
but the HTC Prophet -- you know, the follow up to the HTC Magician -- got announced by (you guessed it) Orange as the (yup, you guessed again) the M600. Of course,
we don't have a price or date, but hey, you heard it here first. Well, at least we hope you did.
Does anyone else find it annoying that this phone is called the M600, that Sony-Ericsson also announced a different M600 and that there is a Sanyo MP3 player called the "DMP-M600". In fact, even Sony themselves have a portable digital radio called the ICF-M600!
What is it? Have we run out of letters and numbers? Or is there some magic about the combination M600 which makes it worth giving it as the name to 4 separate products?
Orange always use the M Prefix on their PPC's. M600 is the sucessor to the M500. Just like the C series is for smartphones, appart from the early E series running WM 2003.
This phone is so cool! My coworker has one already, bought it in China. It's Windows Mobile. No qwerty, but the screen is smaller form than the usual windows mobile devices. The buttons are great, and the camera is pretty decent. It's about the same size (maybe a tad shorter) than the ROKR.
I currently use a Vodafone VPA Compact (m500) for just under a year now, I have been awaiting the release of this handset for a while, the m600 Bluetooth 2.0, integrated wifi g/b and 2 mega pixel camera are very positive features which are lacking on the m500, currently I have to remove my sd memory card to replace it with sd wifi card. I am a little disappointed in the styling partially the buttons , but this could be that the m500 is so gorgeous my expectations are very high. The lack of 3G fast mobile data compatibility is a shame as currently there are no handsets of this compact form factor with windows mobile 5 and 3G Available the UK, Overall a very worthy successor.
“The basic layout of the HD2 is uncluttered and uncomplicated, providing only a few hardware buttons, and leaving the rest of the navigation up to that beautiful screen.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
