Yahoo! Go Mobile goes mobile with Cingular on the Nokia 6682

Anyone remember those Yahoo Go Mobile phone widgets we were supposed to be getting ala Semel's CES Yahoo keynote? And how they've partnered with AT&T and Cingular to bring this mobile Yahoo vision to life, despite the fact that no one really seems to get what it is they're doing besides embedding some Y channels in cellphones? Well, it's live and officially announced now, everyone, so soon in addition to MusicID and the load of other crap Cingular wants loaded up on your Nokia 6682, you'll have access to the integrated Yahoo web portal with mail, YIM, your addresses, photos (which we hope includes Flickr), and the like. Start your banjos everyone, it's time to go mobile with Yahoo Go Mobile.

I wonder how Nokia is going to fare in light of Microsfts announcements around skype like mobile VOIP and there very good data sync and mail services on the windows mobile platform. With support coming from Palm and others, MS has once again weaseled its way into a very good position in the corporate and professional mobile user market.

no flickr...they want you to sync to yahoo photos. im gonna pass on this, even though i usually get anything that can go on my 6682. definitely not a yahoo fan.

Yeah this is a pretty bad idea. To tie any mobile device to particular branding is a bad idea especialy when that company does not enjoy market dominance ala MS or Apple

as someone who has actually installed the thing, i'll tell you -- it flat at rawks.

it syncs my yahoo mail and calendar automatically, over the air, using the built-in phone apps -- taking that a step further, using the yahoo sync plugin for outlook, i have my appointments and meetings on my 6682's homescreen without having to manually do a thing. no sms funny business either. if you're complaining about china and flickr, then you're just looking for a reason to not take advantage of the greatest symbian app out there.
