AXIA launches "world's smallest" A308 Windows Mobile phone

Malaysian manufacturer AXIA is claiming to have the "world’s
smallest PDA Phone on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 featuring WiFi connectivity," in their new A308 device. At
0.8x1.9x4.5-inch the phone is a tad larger than the HTC Tornado Smartphone, but the A308 goes for full PDA
functionality with its 2.2-inch QVGA LCD. Along with the WiFi, AXIA has crammed in Bluetooth, EDGE, miniSD, a 1.3
megapixel camera, and a pleasantly fast 416MHz Intel CPU. Looks good to us, world's smallest or not.
It's actually the world's smallest Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC. Even though it may be a tad larger than the Tornado, the Tornado is a Smartphone. This is a full-fledged Pocket PC with a 2.2" QVGA touchscreen. Woohoo!
Why should Pocket PC be small and the device like smartphone? It's user interface is for PDAs not for smartphones. And the UI is designed for large screens with stylus. There is are very good reasons for two separate plaforms. Why not to use them as they are ment to be used?

The two platforms of Windows Mobile are converging (actually the next version won't have different platforms) and with the improvement of one-handed operation in Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC, I think there is a market for this type of device.
