A slew of Tech Faith Wireless Windows Mobile phones
We have no idea who these guys are,
where they came from, or if they're even real, but the buzz is a new Chinese ODM by the name of Tech Faith Wireless
(TWF) is about to storm HTC's castle with a sweet lineup of Windows Mobile devices. The specs seem a little pie in the
sky (at best), with most rocking quad band GSM, HSDPA, 2.4 and 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreens, MicroSD, 512MB flash, 512MB
RAM, GPS, USB On-The-Go, 2 megapixel cameras, optional WiFi, and optional MicroDrives (in their larger PDA devices).
We're not saying it can't be done, but they're going to have some convincing to do that they, and their products, are
the real deal, not to mention the uphill battle they're going to have getting these things on the market and taking on
the 800 pound ODM gorilla. Tons more -- and we mean way too many -- shots after the break.

The more Windows Mobile the better!
Best phone OS ever!
Damn, here I've been working on my wife to convince her that the i-Mate SP5/Qtek 8310 is the be all, end all of what I "need" in a phone... And now these beauties pop up? Argh! Of course they probably won't be available for a while, they probably won't have the RAM/ROM specs listed, and they'll never see the light of day state-side, but that won't keep me from getting a tech-chubby over them.
This is all fair and well but i think we needs some real test and comparisons, 512MB ram is getting close to PC's Speeds, and that one makes them hot and consume more power. Battery life on phones is bad enough as it is i feel this may be a step backwards...
That much RAM belongs in a PDA not a smartphone. I don't see what you'll need it for.
I probably won't be getting this for myself as I'm more of a full-size pda phone fan but damn, this'll be a great gift for my old man.
The listings say 512Mb of flash ROM and 512Mb of RAM, which is 64MB of each, totalling 128MB.
dang. i have a XV6700 and i'm jealous of those specs. my battery life is about 7 hours so i would be worried about the battery tech of these...otherwise sign me up
xeper, I'm pretty sure they meant MegaBytes. No-one really refers to MegaBits by lowercase b in electronics specs, they usually write Mbit for them.
TechFaith Wireless is the top design house for Mobile Handsets in Mainland China. You will see more soon. Also try to google China Techfaith and Qualcomm; both have agreed on a joint venture , very interesting company, listed on the NY stock market ; was a big article last year in Business Week (November) on them ...
I'm not trying to start anything, but I seriously doubt that it will have 512MB of ROM AND 512MB of RAM. If anything they would include 512MB of storage and 64-128MB RAM tops. 512MB of non-storage RAM would be utterly useless in any PDA out today.
I have seen several spec-sheets for phones over the last few years that use Mb and MB distinctions.
