Yup, here's the moment you've been waiting
for since you snagged that
Palm Treo 700w -- Palm's
announced their Windows Mobile Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) upgrade (aka AKU2), allowing, among other
things, support for push email (and hopefully a rolled out fix for that
DST bug). You all know the
drill, so prepare to backup all that data -- and we mean all of it, AKU2 will wipe that phone clean as a slate -- and
head over to
Verizon's or
Palm's support site later this month so you can get
your AKU2 on, too.
I'm still waiting for WinMo. 5.0 on my Sammy i 730
Ugh! You bastages! You got my hopes all up. End of the month != soon.
I can't friggen wait to get my dirty little mitts on this update ...
Guys come on now, you're just getting everyone excited here - NOTHING has been released yet contrary to the title "Palm's Treo 700w gets its AKU2 on". It'll be out "by the end of the month" - I wouldn't call that soonish and I certainly wouldn't be saying that you can get your "AKU2 on" because you can't yet....
Come on guys, you are better than this....
the update will not fix the DST bug.
the coolest thing in the update is the USB switch, allowing you to active-sync via plain old serial instead of this crazy corprate-centric 'secure' rndis connection.
ok - i just pulled the update from the Palm site and applied it to my Treo 700W ... it seems to have worked without any glitches. It is slow though - and cleaning up all the temp files has been the slowest part.
I was expecting my phone to go through a hard reset, but that does not appear to have happened. Rather my installed applications are still there and appear to work after install.
I will need to play with it a bit more to what's new, what's fixed, and what's broken.
they took it off there site
So ... am I to understand we still can't use AKU2 on the Treo 700w? Is there any hope it will happen?
