Nokia 8800 Aston Martin Edition: only $1400
When a mobile phone is on its last legs there are still a few things you can do -- bring out a pink or gold version, slap on some jewels, or align yourself with an automobile
line that most closely aligns with your target consumer. Enter the Nokia 8800 Ford Aston
Martin Edition which as these things go, will be produced in a "strictly limited" quantity likely equalling
the number of people willing to actually purchase one. So what do you get beyond what the 8800 fashion phone already
dishes? Well, how about a discrete Aston Martin winged logo laser-etched on the stainless steel casing and an Aston
Martin video, wallpaper, and screensaver all pre-loaded at the factory. Oh, and if that's not enough to convince you to
dig deep for the £800 excluding VAT (more than $1400) required to get your man on, then how 'bout some custom
ringtones which include samples of that roaring 380 horsepower Vantage V8. Vroom, vroom big daddy, vroom, vroom.

Hmm, for some reason I don't see many people *stupid* enough to waste money on something like this...
OMG
SOMEONE LINK ME A HIGH RES PIC *RIGHT* NOW.
There is ALWAYS someone stupid enough. Look how many stupid people buy full size trucks for $50K when it cost as little as $20K to make them. I always believed that if the person on your right, and the person on your left aren't stupid, then you are. (If you are going to take this personally then the person on your right was stupid enough to buy one of these sweeties so you are lucky:)
Hm...This looks awfully familiar, oh that's right Moto TRIED to do this a year ago with their notoriously crappy V600 (http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Page=1&Id=663). If you have the money to burn, atleast this phone wont suck and break like the Moto V600. I still own a V600, MOTO NEVER AGAIN. Viva Nokia.
-M.
Aston Martin, huh? I guess I won't be buying a Nokia ever again.
DAMN!
Alright, enough rambling on and on about whoever's stupid enough to buy one of these.
Personally, I'm a HUGE Aston Martin fan and I think the Nokia 8800 is BEAUTIFUL already. If the original edition of the phone was in my budget, I would've bought that, but unfortunately it isn't. Now that this is out, (again if I was rich enough) thats like... the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!
And whatever guys, its limited edition, so the only people that would buy it are probably guys who HAVE an Aston Martin, and in that case, what do they care about the price of this thing.
Beautiful.
I don't really think it's a question of stupidity. Spending an obscene amount of money on a mobile phone is great, especially if you have the money to do so. And there are certain people who can afford this phone who also find it attractive and I think that Nokia is simply trying to find greater appeal to its product. Granted most people don't have the money or wouldn't spend their money on this, but why not if you like it?
isn't cheaper to like... put an astin martin sticker on ur phone?
well i guess the added stuff is nice...
maybe an expensive gift for a person named martin or for someone's ars that weighs a ton?
#3, "Look how many stupid people buy full size trucks for $50K when it cost as little as $20K to make them."
Most everyday retail items have a markup of 200-300%
The 8800 has a lot positives however, I personally would like to see them give it a few more functions instead of a signature.
