Nokia N83 shot and specs
We still can't guarantee the N83 is the real deal,
but it certainly looks to be taking shape, and New Mobile has a very slick looking front-on of the device with those
same promising details: UMTS, 2.5-inch 352 x 416 QVGA display, 4GB drive, 5 megapixel camera,
Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio, MicroSD, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The over the top specs make it out to be one of the hottest
Symbian devices we've ever seen, which is exactly why we're not going to go getting our hopes up just yet that all those
pie in the sky features are going to turn up roses.

nice phone but i like n82 the most.

its not possible for the "pencil" icon appear on N83...
this must be definately fake!!
I call Photoshop on this. It's a very impressive Photoshop - and probably mostly accurate - but all the same... not real.
If the N83 is real, it won't be announced until October or November. Given that, there's no way Nokia has done official product photography yet, nor would there even be an internal prototype with "N83" printed clearly on it like that. Give me a break. That's the fastest way to guarantee a leak, and Nokia's just not that stupid.
Plus certain things on this don't match the spy shots, like the shape of the d-pad, and - more obviously - the green and red graphics on the send and end keys... so fake.
The spy shots could be real. I don't know. But the pretty one is not real.
yeah..they used some software to modify nokia n95 and then call it 'nokia n83'..the music keypads reali look extremely shitty
Hmm, interesting points! Though I'm not sure the photoshop doesn't match the "spy shots" -- IMO the d-pad and its surrounding buttons all match up to the previous shots, and I'm not sure I agree about the button graphics (unless you've seen some shots I haven't).
oh great, here come the "PHOTOSHOP!!!11" zealots again.
can't you all just take something for what it is?
This is a photoshop from the guy deuxani over at www.mobile-review.com forums (http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showpost.php?p=408864&postcount=62)
Tobbe is right. He doesn't deny that it's a photoshop. Check out post #93.

OOPS! Posted wrong link..

If you are going to shout photoshop, then make sure you point out what makes you feel that way.
Stupid amatures.
At least the spy shots seem to be real. There is "Content removed at the request of Nokia's legal representation" message at mobiholics.net, where the spy shots used to be. Or, this might be really clever idea by the owners both to proove the shots real and to save bandwith. Or, might be I am just paranoid;)
Lets see if they try to press on Engadget. [insert 'bring it on' gesture from the Matrix here]
Pez and Nick, I didn't just shout "Photoshop". I did back it up with specifics.
...and it seems I was right.
The same thing happened with the n80 photoshop. It originated on MR Forums (alexander3) and was NEVER intended to be the real thing. The media stumbled on it and ran with it. Then readers shouted FAKE. So lame... The pictures are real. The device is real. Unfortunately, we don't have clear pictures. That's why deuxani made the photoshop.
Get the whole story before you jump to conclusions next time ;)
The phone is real! Check this out!
http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/nokia_n83_spotted.php
Images from the original source have been removed at Nokia's request!
That phone is real. Believe U me. I heard about this phone before from some Nokia people. 3G slider with a big screen and new better design. N83 is goin very close on that.
But still I dontt think that 5 mgapixel camera is true. More like 3,2 megapixel if you ask me.
Well I just hope to God it is real
The screen is a QVGA one, and *NOT* a 352x416. All you have to do is load this pic http://www.fs-newmobile.com/images/news/mei_2006/n83nm.jpg or this pic http://imgs.idnes.cz/telefony/A060502_ADA_NOKIA_N83_03_N.JPG on photoshop or paintshoppro and select the black screen and copy it to the clipboard. Then, create a new image using the clipboard image and then resize it (by using the correct aspect ratio) to 240 pixels wide. You will see that the screen becomes almost a 240x320 image. If you try the same with the 352pixels wide, it creates a completely different vertical resolution, at about 470 pixels height, which is way off to be a 352x416 screen.
Logical conclusion: this is a QVGA screen, not a super high-res one.
The guys over at NewMobile.nl fixed their article after I emailed them about the resolution, but not before EngadgetMobile and many other sites copied over their false specs.
Earlier today I posted the exact same measurements as you did, Eugenia, over at Symbian-Freak.com - nobody seemed to care.
However, I wouldn't jump to conclusions on this one.
1) You only know this have the 'standard' (maybe not for phones yet, but for most other non-widescreen screens) apsect ratio of 4:3. If the rumored 5 MP camera on this one is true, we could be facing a VGA screen as well (Sharp has done it with a 2.4") - or maybe some intermediate solution like 360x480. We have to get some folks with Symbian knowledge to say which are the supported resolution for S60 3rd Edition - then we might tell something about the actual resolution.
2) You have to know the aspect ratio on the pictures are correct. I must admit that they seem to be, but I have seen official manufacture pictures that weren't, so you can't really rely 100% on any of this.
Come on people, I thought this was what a good news site did - checked the facts and saw if it all seemed plausible.
The N80's resolution is 352 x 416 pixels, so it's highly unlikely that N83 would be worse than that.
Come on Nokia, bring some of your good phones to Canada already. The selection of your phones available here is CRAP.
If you have a beef with the USA, which I'm beginning to think is entirely possible, please don't bring us into it.
i need nokia n83
can anyone tell me a web to download 100% free??? post me at quardas@yahoo.com..(looks like stupid to tell all blog surfer my email) hahahaha
Very soon it's going to be pointless having these standalone devices, such as ipods and digital cameras.
Jacob's previous post about the Nokia situation in Canada is right. It's either oudated/limited use phones on sale or go fishing abroad. Hope this changes soon!
WOW..
That is a great news. I was planning to buy a Nokia N73, but now, I'll wait for it.
and btw, you can get some cool stuff for 3rd Edition phones in DreamStrikes Mobile

This is definately a fraud..
-its not announced on nokia's official website..
-the top half of the phone copies n73's colour and the position of the secondary camera..
-the menu buttons and directional pad is the same of as of the n95's pad..
definately photoshop...
but good work by making it so real...
hey every body i'll wanna to tell you some thing
this phone is not n83!!!!!
this is N95
this phone is going to be great i really like the n95 but there is 1 exception with the n83 the 4gb. i had an n91 which had 4gb and it was too slow when filled with 2gb worth off stuff and i had a 4gb memory card for the n95 and the same problem
