Sprint shipping Treo 700P by end of month, for $400
Sprint may have missed out on an exclusive Treo 700P offering, but at least they plan on being first to market. Sure, the 700P is missing WiFi support and a few other notable exclusions, but if EV-DO and the promise of watching Sprint TV on that 320 x 320 screen is your PalmOS siren song then get ready -- Sprint will be kicking these out the door at the end of the month for $399.99 green after available discounts and promotions. Meaning, you'll likely have to sign up for a two-year commitment which is pretty much what we expected anyway and exactly what the WinMo 700W went for when it was launched. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Everything else is an evolution, but adding wifi support would have sold this thing to every damn Treo 650 user left out here. If Palm had gone so far as to add wifi to the 700p and still not the 650, I'd have been tempted to bend over and buy the 700p; I'm sure as hell not doing it for a nicer camera and EVDO that's not (or just barely) available in my area.
Screw you, Palm. If the 700w does wifi, why not the 700p? If the 650 "physically can't support it," a claim we know is a lie anyhow, the 700p should have been redesigned so that it could.
Do we know if the 700W will be sold by Sprint at the same time?
I was going to go with the 700P until I found out it has no wifi and no Blackberry-like email support. I'll suffer with the smaller screen if it means that I get a product that is more functional with my business.
Well no BB support, but it does do Goodlink (which is priced about the same).
