We're sorry to say we don't have a price or release date for you, but a little birdie told us Cingular's business unit's going to very soon be getting Nokia's QWERTY hotness, the
E62 (that little birdie also supplied us a picture). Unfortunately it won't be UMTS (sigh) or have WiFi, as we knew, but it'll still have quad-band GPRS / EDGE, Good, MS Direct Push, BlackBerry Connect, XpressMail, just about every Bluetooth profile imaginable, Symbian 9.1 / S60 3.0, and all the hardware we've come to expect: 235MHz CPU, 32MB RAM and 160MB flash, MiniSD, QVGA 256k color display, and USB mass storage support. We'd say it's safe to assume you can expect this in the very near future; we'll keep you posted.
Wow... I wonder if it will sync with a mac.
Iiim aaa lookinnn and iiimmm aaa liken!
The E62's european brother (clearly separated by birth), the E61 does not sync well at all with the Mac.
Nokia does not recommend using it with a Mac at all, and I can confirm that while it plays nice with my PC, my Powerbook and my E61 won't get along at all.
And the E61 does indeed have wi-fi, so why not the E62. Madness, I tell you, sheer madness.
That is crushing. Most S60 phones sync very well with the Mac, why not this one?
This phone is the do-all and end-all for me, it has every single thing that I have been looking for in a phone for years, but if it won't sync with my Mac, I'm out.
Every Symbian phone I've ever used has synced smoothly with iSync on Tiger. I'd be surprised if this new one doesn't.
Sync with mac is fully possible using 2 different approaches.
the first one is modify the MetaClasses.plist file in iSync, but this doesn't sync the alarms properly.
the solution is to sync using a plugin.

hope it can be useful to anyone.
I've had the E61 for a month now and it's just a little wonder.
If it doesn't work with a mac, it's not for me either. Actually, no WiFi is a deal breaker. That's mainly why I want it. I'm considering the e61, though.
Cingular are a bunch of pussies. Their N9300 is of the castrated type.. no WiFi, so whats the use? And now this... junk.
If the phone comes preloaded with James Bond's cell number, then we're talking. Otherwise, I'm just going to have to steal that SIM
I wonder why they chose to throw in James Bond with all those terribly Finnish names?
I'm hoping T-Mobile USA will pick up the E61. The S60 platform means it isn't a direct competitor to any of their other QWERTY phones (MDA, Blackberry, Sidekick) and the built-in wi-fi would make it compatible with the T-Mobile HotSpot network that they have spent a lot of money to build out and market.
Anyone heard any rumors about the E61 or other new QWERTY phones on T-Mob USA???
Don't think T-Mobile will be catabolizing sales by bringing out another phone that appeals only to us tech geeks. They put a lot of effort into the MDA and have done well with the 8700berry. My guess is that they will cash in on their investment there (high end) and with sidekick 3 (low-end). I don't think we'll see another bad boy competitor until the Hermes makes its mark. It too many competing phones to offer in a product line.
