FCC spills the remaining beans on the Sidekick III
We like to think we've had you pretty well covered on every aspect of the Sidekick III's imminent release, but if you just can't get enough, our loose-lipped buddies at the FCC are on the case. Not only is the user guide posted, but they've snapped the device from every angle imaginable for our viewing pleasure. If these guys aren't careful, they're going to start rivaling the 700p for the title of Worst Kept Secret. From the draft manual, we can confirm the big new hardware features, Bluetooth and MiniSD expansion, but we're having a hard time making heads or tails of the unified instant messaging we've mentioned before -- no IM services are called out by name in the book. We have the Sidekick III striking some poses for you after the break.

From the pictures, I have to say that this looks much better for the phone function than the previous models. Can't say it would make me swith to T-Mobile though, pretty lousy coverage. It's obvious now that next generation of Paris Hilton has definitley arrived!
Why does every assparticle mention Paris Hilton when it comes to Danger/T-Mobile products.
I guess people are trying on that new CelebuTard moniker in their own size these days.
i wonder if u can unlock and use with cingular
or how long before u can see it on ebay
Because PEZ shes all over TV with Sidekick IIs, including T-Mob's own comercials you assparticle.
no vvr it cannot 'fully' b unlocked.....all the data on sidekick devices go through dangers servers with specific APN ids for its parnering carries( cingular is not 1 of them)....so u would have a 300 voice phone because none of the data end would work
Correct the data end would never work on cing, sorry. However the device n specs look great but my real concern is when the OS will be opened to apps like google maps n google weather. Thats what made me move from SK2 to the BB8700g. Id only go back if they opend up the OS or improved the list of supported apps.
I really like the look of the Sidekick III makes the 2 look quite dated. Anyone know anything about say a worldwide release, or will the suspect July 11th release be in America only?
if you look at the instant messaging section in the manual it says
*seperate charges apply to send and recieve im messages
i bet their gonna use that same crappy oz messeger that they tried to pawn off on us MDA users..which works on sms messages..
only problem is..the poor sk users dont have the option to download a new/diff im program like us wm5 users do..
poor kids...
I read somewhere that Sidekick II users will be able to upgrade. Does anyone know if this is legit? Or yet another rumor??
agent lead....what is this IM software you're talking about? I have an MDA and hate the IM software...let me know.
thanks!
Agile Messenger is a good IM app for the MDA
http://www.agile.com
well if it was the shit mda messenger that im stuck using everyday, the im application could be upgraded by using tmobiles download software section on the sidekick itself...
agent lead - nar, the Danger IM is the best there is, none of that Oz stuff on the Sidekick. I've not seen anything more instant than the Sidekick IM that's why it's #1 for messaging. Also T-Mobile doesn't charge extra for IM's on the Sidekick, that's just generic manual blurb.
As a member of T-Mobile Management, i can say that dont expect teh SK3 to launch on July 10th or anytime soon. If it was going to launch that soon we would already be taking preorders like we did for the MDA, which brings me to you MDA users that are complaining about it. Maybe if you spent less time on here and more time actually researching the product you wouldnt have been so disappointed. i personally have an MDA and am satisfied with it, course i only paid 125 dollars for it too
whats wrong with the MDA? it seems like its a SK2/Sk3 on steroids, i mean it has eveyrthing the SK3 has and more. what is there not to like about it?
