HP iPaq hw6915 ready to ship on July 4?
HP's everything-to-everyone hw6xxx series of Pocket PC phones have taken their fair share of criticism for some flaky software, sluggish performance, and bizarre 240 x 240 display resolution, but as we previously reported, the hw69xx looks to be a worthy upgrade. Besides the obvious bonuses like a faster processor and integrated WiFi, the keyboard is allegedly more usable thanks to a revised key shape and, well, it's just good to see that HP finally showed up for the Windows Mobile 5 AKU2 party. Folks that have been waiting for these bad boys to drop might want to reach for their wallets: MobilePlanet is now showing July 4 availability for the hw6915, coming in just shy of $890. Despite the decidedly patriotic release date, the first round of units will likely be European, but the quad-band GSM / EDGE has our American readers covered either way.

With the Moto Q, and Nokia E series, does anyone really CARE about what HP is offering? I mean it takea a bit more than your name and an OS to capture a users attention these days... and there is nothing special about this device at all.
And a month ago, they had the release date as June 1st. A week ago, it was July 1st.....
I hope its right this time, Ive been waiting for this phone for a while
PEZ... this device shares a lot of similarities with the Palm Treo 700w. Same size screen, qwerty keyboard, and undeniable business-centric focus.
However, it has an advantage over the Treo in terms of speed, RAM, quad band GSM/EDGE for world travelers, and built in wi-fi.
I think that's really the market that HP is targeting with this device.
I got tired of waiting for this. I needed an upgrade to my MPX220 and Cingular had the 8125. I love it. Bigger screen then the HP and I was able to get it now.
Its also on the canadian HP site, though listed as the 6950, for $300 less than expansys(canadian version of mobile planet). No specs or release date there though
This has GPS & Wifi over the Q. That said, at $900, I may be looking more at the Q.
That's extortion. You better wait until HP starts selling directly, the 6900 without camera is listed as $699 cdn and with camera at $749cdn. Those are prices from an HP Canada price list dated June 22, 2006.
Daniel--You might want to look at the 8125. It has WiFi and I've heard that if you're willing to tinker you can get GPS too. I haven't done that yet...but it's going for $199 right now w/new service (actually I saw it for $50) or (unfortunately) $299 for those who have Cingular already. I got it and am loving it!
