Considering it's going to take a phone like this to make people give a flying crap about Cingular's 3G services, I'm pretty sure there will be hell to pay if they can't get it out before Thanksgiving.
All those early adopters with v3s are coming up on the end of their contract, so a v3 with a jacked-up feature set is probably needed to keep them from churning.
