m300 "Mobile Watch" in the wild
As you may recall, we touched on the m300 GSM watch a couple weeks ago with a healthy dose of skepticism, but it now appears the device is more than just vaporware. SMS Technology, the m300's manufacturer, did us the favor of sending along a handful of in-the-flesh pictures along with a detailed account of its development. Apparently, the m300 owes its existence to another Australian product -- MTrak -- a kevlar-strapped GPS bracelet designed for tracking children. MTrak evolved into a CDMA watch phone, and then on to its current GSM incarnation. Packing the GPS proved too bulky for a mainstream watch, though, so the December '06 delivery date is giving SMS some additional time to engineer that part of hardware out of the platform. The result is said to be roughly the size of a TAG Heuer, supports speech-to-text for messaging, and rocks both Bluetooth and a speakerphone -- not shabby specs for a phone the size of a few coins. The company claims to have some 1.2 million Australian orders alone on tap, so hats off to these guys for giving it the old college try, eh? More wrist-talkin' eye candy after the break.

Its a little big but hook me up... would be sweet to receive my texts messages on my watch while I'm slaving away in front of my desk.
I think a waterproof version would rock for those who actually go outdoors and... do stuff.
This looks so cool! I'd get one when it's available.
Then all I need is a powerful WM5 PDA w/ Skype :D
it would be better if the screen was bigger, but its a pretty cool cell, and i wonder if they are going to put it on a company.
umm, 1.2 million australian orders?? i dont think so. there are only 6 mill of us here and at the last census, only 2 in five people had a mobile. So that would mean that almost half of all the mobile phone owners are gonna ditch thier handset for one of these things? and they havent even finished the specs? Sorry, but that is a load of crap
I wonder when this will make its way to the US. We could use some nice toys like this to play with. :)
Cool watch...Australia total pop is slightly over 20 million...maybe you missread Austria?? which is 8 million by the way...
My friend and I ordered 2 each of the M500 from SMS and 8 months later those bastards sent us our orders and none of them work! NONE!

You should at least tell the people about how you couldn't pay the
Chinese manufature which is why they went ahead and sold the M300's as
they were already made, and how you had the odosity to post all over
about how they were fakes. (consedince why they called the so call
fake ones M300 as well? Because they were already made with that logo
on them.)
You should tell the people that the delays over the last 18 months all
while promising delivery next 7 days that you were just raising money
for the Chinese manufature. It had nothing to do with trying to perfect
the so called M500 or else they wouldn't be having hardware and
software problems.
Delivering a mobile watch 18 months late after taking your customers
hard earned cash is nothing for you to be proud of. You released a
product that is nothing but faulty. That's right, I have one sitting
in front of me now and the product is weak. Very weak.
You have failed yet again.

Thanks for the 411 Prince… now it makes sense why a Chinese company would release a mobile watch branded M300!!!
My M500 is no good now as it went dead after the 3rd day!
Now I'm pissed!
I got my M500 after waiting 11 months (they said delivery in 7 days) and guess what??? the watch falls apart! It's a "PLASTIC" case and it keeps wanting to come off and the stylus never stays in the strap plus the speakerphone does not wotk plus the screen has major dead pixels!
Oh by the way, you can forget about support as no one replies to E-mails nor do they ever answer the phones.
Bottom line is that I got took for $1,000!!!
