FCC comes clean on Motorola KRZR (Canary)
If you've had any lingering questions about Motorola's RAZR successor, the KRZR -- aka Canary, aka RAZR 2, aka RAZR K1 -- you might shuffle on over to the FCC's site and have a look-see. All the good stuff on the GSM variant has gone live, with unfettered access to external and internal pics plus a draft user's manual. The KRZR does get honest-to-goodness EDGE which'll be a fun experience for original V3 owners making the switch -- but as Pete pointed out, it's basically a glossy, slimmed down RAZR, so don't expect any juicy specs buried in the documents. If by chance you still find yourself mesmerized by all that blue, glossy goodness, look for the KRZR at your friendly local Cingular outlet come this fall.

I've never been too keen on the RAZR "brand" and this one does nothing for me. Not wide enough for me. Sure, it'll sell well but i'm not going to be sucked into all the hype surrounding the RAZRs
This phone is called the RAZR K1, not the KRZR.
Jon - You're right, we've heard that name thrown around, too. I updated the post to show it. Thanks.
No worries, it was strange because Cingular called it the KRZR in pre-release stuff. Probably because they didn't have a name for it, but I'm not sure. And the new name makes more sense because of the huge RAZR brand and the fact KRZR makes no sense.
well, since the k1 and the "capri" (which, oddly enough, is still a prototype), all the stuff phonescoop said about the capri should apply here, right? 2MP cam, camcorder, flash (probably not), mini usb, bt 2.0, and so on. i'm looking forward to the new ui, the memory card slot, the 2MP cam, and all the shiny moto goodness. plus, y'know, i get to make all those people who went out and bought pebls a month ago look like idiots in a dollar store.
too bad moto couldn't cram umts in all that shiny. i mean, edge is alright, but c'mon; a v3x variant with umts coming out "by christmas", and all that hsdpa blathering makes ya want to cringe when you hear edge data speeds. i want my cingular tv, darn it!
i mean, and if this and the capri are supposed to be the same, where is the slider? did it drop off the face of the earth or something??? why doesn't someone just tell me these things! *sob*
okay. *sniff* fine. i'll get over it and shut up.
please pardon the random ranting.
update!!! kya~!
check out the user manual (last pdf in listing if you click on the picture)
it's got a flash! finally, moto has got it right!
and ptt! a whole page on it!
ptv, ptt group... the list goes on!
ota firmware updates, airplane mode~
gd***! what does this phone not do!
once again, please pardon the caffiene od induced ranting. it's not natural, it's caffinated.
Has the OS been improved at all? I would try a Moto product as a replacement for my Nokia if the Moto OS was not such a useless piece of shit...
Is this the same phone it looks the same and shows different colors? (http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/mobilephones/0,39051199,39260505p,00.htm?)
JMILLER -
the W375 isn't the same thing. it's just a low end moto that's supposed to be styled after the RAZR.
#8: I don't think so. A quick Google of the W375 shows it to be a budget RAZR-type phone that never saw the light of day in the US. Looks like it has a tricolor external LCD, FM tuner, and VGA camera.
@7
lesse here... unless you DIDN'T read my caffinated rant (totally understandable. i'd like to apologize for that), there is a brand new synergy ui on the phone. BRAND NEW. phonescoop's capri review (canary, capri= tomayto, tomahto) says the phonebook as well as the menu layout has been overhauled. nice.
From the looks of the manual, it'll have PTT and a flash for the Camera.
@12
you didn't read my caffinated rant, either, did you?
duh! i said both of those things!
gah! read before you post!
I own a MOTOROLA W375 (was released in Romania in December - imported from Greece) and it is a very good phone; I only found one low point: it has onlu 0.5MB internal memory, and no card slot. It is styled after RAZR-K1, but is the cheaper version (W375 - 100Euro; RAZR-K1 - 330Euro) and alittle bigger, but it has good features, and is a steady phone.
