We've only been hearing about (and seeing, and getting the launch of) the
Canary for a couple months now, so it's about time Motorola officially launched the damned things. The KRZR, as we very well know, is the latest in Moto's 4 LTTR DVCE NAME LINE, both models featuring a microSD,
Screen3, and a thinned-wideness but slightly girthier body. The specs between sub-models do vary, however: GSM K1 has Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 176 x 220 display, and 2 megapixel camera; both K1ms will forgo the A2DP, but the CDMA / 1xRTT version has a QVGA display (and an accordingly larger battery), and a 2 megapixel camera, while the EV-DO K1m has that damned 176 x 220 display a 1.3 megapixel camera, as well as a millimeter added to its waistline. Despite the differences, though, all
should be available in the second half of the year (you know, the half we're currently in) from, well,
you know damned well
who's gonna offer this phone.
P.S. -From the looks of it, that device is running Moto's new Juix interface. We can't yet confirm this, but that'd certainly be a welcome addition to the otherwise predictable handset.

In case anyone is confused, QQVGA is really 176x220
According to numerous websites QQVGA is NOT 176 x 220. It stands for quarter QVGA which is 160 x 120. Here's a link to one site.

I'm assuming it should say 176 x 220 instead of QQVGA.
Also, could someone re-read this blog post. There are some typos.
Now THAT is beautiful. Eat your heart out haters ;P LOVE those touch sensitive buttons. Love it love it love it!!!
Phone Scoop has some more details and some really nice pics. The glossy front is actually "a single piece of glass with a vacuum metalized finish which gives it the jewel-like appearance..."
The K1m is about 1/10 of an inch thicker than the V3m, but the battery life is much improved. VZW should drop first, hopefully with a passable music player :-/

QQVGA is 120x160, I think 176x220 is called QCIF+, but it isn't used very often.
First off, there are no touch sensitive buttons and the screen is 220x176.
Anyway, I think it's a shame Engadget didn't cover the announcement of the Motorola FONE--it's more interesting since it wasn't expected and because it's trying to compete with the Samsung SGH-t509 (it's an ultra-thin and ultra-cheap candybar). You'll have to head on over to PhoneScoop.com for a pic and semi-story on that.
1.3 megapixel camera isn`t impressed.
i just realized why i actually like this phone. motorola finally dropped that stuipid logo in the earpiece detail that i hated so much. this looks so much more modern because of it. damn. someone was smart this time.
That's actually a facet of the K1 which I disliked. Motorolans came to love that earpiece detail such as that found on my Q.
But life is about moving forward so I can dig it.
So is this pronounced like "Cruiser" or "Cursor"?
i didn't notice. the side buttons are on the bottom part of the phone, not on the screen, and the top definitely has a smaller screen. there's a lot of extra space vertically, but i guess it's expected, since the phone is not as wide as the razr with the same aspect ratio
I heard the K1 is on ebay for $900 now. Who the heck would pay that much for this phone! I think the phone is only worth about $200 if even that. I hope no one is stupid to pay $900 for this phone.
in my opinion this phone doesn't really have any truly new features other than the body. also letting you guys know that the touch sensitive buttons are available only for the k1m model for verizon.
also if your interested here are some high res pics
