The Boy Genius Report: Are those three new SLVRs in your pants?

What do we have here? Four different SLVR models? Yep! That's right, from CDMA to GSM to WCDMA, the good folks at Motorola have you covered. Starting on the right the first is called the L7i which is simply an update to the L7, the way the V3i was to the V3. It adds a 1.3 megapixel camera, EDGE, more internal memory, the updated UI [though not Juix] and some other miscellany. Next we have a regular L7, you know the phone your grandparents use? The real star of the picture has to be the third L7 which is the 3G model. It has a front facing video conferencing camera (obviously), 2.0 mega pixel camera, world 3G bands, quad-band EDGE, and microSD as well. Finally we have the much rumored L7c that was just finally announced. It is indeed a SILVR SLVR, microSD card support, 1.3 megapixel camera, VCAST, and is coming to... Alltel! Just kidding. Verizon Wireless, holla at me baby!

good job, keep 'em coming
Why the crack on Alltel? Lame. I switched over from Verizon about 6 months ago and am digging it.
I wish Alltel did get more phones, sooner -- I guess the economics make more sense for Moto to push them to the big boys first...which sucks because that only gives Verizon more leverage to screw its consumers..
the 3g one looks beautiful not a fan of moto though that damn UI blows they do make stylish phones they need to blend nokia interface with moto style or just get me a new MPx
And as Yoda said... "no... there is another..."
But, you will have to stay tuned for that one ;)

There's been some debate as to whether the L7c will have a 1.3 megapixel camera or a VGA camera. As of this posting, Motorola is saying that it will be a VGA camera with 8x digital zoom.
Isn't the L7i the iMode version of the L7? (http://www.imodephones.co.uk/home/news/27/)

I really find that Alltel joke kinda mean.... My family is with Alltel and the only way that I would get a SLVR is if it came to Alltel....
I hope it does come to Alltel sooner or later... I'm still waiting on the V3m as I have a V3c now and about 60MB of memory is not cutting it....
I really wish we could see some release dates and final specs on all these new motorola phones. I've got an upgrade with verizon coming august 4th and I can't decide whether I should just stick with my current phone for the time being and get a K1 or L7c, or just bite the bullet and go for the vx8500 (chocolate) which should be out.
any suggestions?
"I really find that Alltel joke kinda mean."
Are you serious? It's your *cell carrier*, not exactly something personal.
Will the WCDMA or CDM work on the Korean carrier SK Telecom? My korean friend loves my GSM and I offered to give it to her because I bought a N90 from Nokia but It would'nt work there. Next for me is the N73. I'll have to wait until the price is under $600 though. Bye.
why would anybody want a verizon slvr?
first off, slvr's have never been the most ergonomic or the most svelte phones, and secondly, isn't it the general consensus that the verizon ui sucks?
so, if poor styling and a crap ui come together you get: a piece of s***! but, because it's moto, you get a shiny smudge magnet to boot!
so, how can we fix this? simple:
change the verizon ui so it looks like the one on the chocolate; not the crappy-looking base one, and switch to dark graphite/black so it somewhat resembles the krzr k1c.
W00T! way to go Boy Genius! I love you man! Now show us some more love with the Moto MAXX!
Doesn't Alltel have an (uncrippled as far as CDMA phones go) version of the v3c already? Picking up the CDMASLVR (wow, that's a long acronym) isn't out of the realm of possibility unless Verizon scooped an exclusive on it.
"I can't decide ... or just bite the bullet and go for the vx8500 (chocolate) which should be out. any suggestions?"
I suggest the Chocolate - better interface, better applications, better functionality and WAY SEXIER. The Slvr is really not the hugest selling phone in the GSM market anyway, people still by the Razr for a reason. I don't think the Verizon Slvr will be that big of a hit.

Dude, stealing my Sprintusers.com lines are not cool!

The Whole Moto/Sprint-Nextel Situation is about to get very interesting...Amazing how much trouble Moto has had getting Sprint's APIs implemented correctly...
I checked out the Chocolate yesterday. Sexy? Yes. Durable? No. Solid? Hell no! Moto UI may not be the strongpoint, but the Chocolate's isnt exactly Nokia either (I'm talkin GSM phones here). My V3i falls but rarely scratches (except for the painted "bulge" part) and it doesn't creak after 6 months of use like that Chocolate did. Chocolate may be good-looking, but trust me the gimmicky touch-sensitivity and a horribly creaky structure will be the downfall of this phone. Also, those who want the shine of the Chocolate can get KRZR with its killer looks and features (2mp cam, new Moto UI that takes LG's to school). Those who want the form factor can go for the amazing RIZR which also beats the crap out of the Chocolate feature-wise.
Also, funny thing I saw yesterday- this bimbo was standing with he boyfriend checking out the Chocolate- she had an N80, dude. N80 with the 3-Megapixel cam, Symbian OS, and the 3G. She was telling her boyfriend to get her the Chocolate instead which has a mere 1.3 megapixel camera and none of the aforementioned features. *Sigh* "New Money".
did anyone notice the new keypad layout on the L7c? looks much nicer than the L7 now that the numbers are in straight rows.
How can you hear someone on ihe second one? only a a videocall camera?
"world 3G bands, quad-band EDGE,"
Holy crap, finally, a phone that'll work on 3G in the US and elsewhere.

^^Can't you see the speaker right above the screen?
So when is it coming out for verizon--besides the normal fourth quarter answer--anyone know a solid date?
it comes out the last week of march.
