The stealthy BlackBerry Stealth slinks behind the scenes no more. It's the BlackBerry 8100 and it's got a
camera, microSD slot, EDGE data, and media playback functionality --
just like we'd expected (so where's the damn
WiFi?). This should be due in
November on Cingular (no guarantees), but something tells us to expect an even earlier launch on T-Mo. Perhaps it's the T-Mo branding. We can't tell you much else as of right now, but big ups to Random Asian Dude for the hookup. Click on for a bunch more pics.
Wow it looks awesome. I see that it has a directional key on the front, does that mean that blackberry is doing away with its signature scroll wheel or is it still installed?
damn this thing is hot. by why sure type? why?
Dammit! Between this and the new Treos coming this fall, I'm going to have a hard decision to make. Any recommendations for a mac owner?
Blackberry's design reminds me Motorola e398
Beautiful screen, and a big improvement for BB. Can't wait to see it.
WHY SURE TYPE WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I want to know is when RIM is going to launch a new device for Verizon with a full Qwerty keyboard and WiFi! Thats when I will upgrade from my 7250.
Great news, thank you really much. Suretype is really strange, why not a normal keyboard? What about the wheel?
Rim will be launching a full qwerty version of this in Q1 of 2007 if you all want to wait.
I don't think this Blackberry has a wheel. it sure doesn't look like it from the pictures. Doesn't the phone look like it has a joystick? I thought Blackberries just had a button there.
if it doesnt have a wheel and suretype no one will buy this blackberry
if you notice, the joystick/wheel apparatus in the middle of the blackberry resembles the trackball cursor on the sidekick 3.
that is definitely a big improvement for RIM but like it's been said, a full qwerty would have made it major.
#2: Get a Nokia E61. It's already out and will sync with your mac without any dodgy third party software. :)
I use the 7100g and honestly, I don't miss the full qwerty. If you use slang or jargon, you can program those words into the suretype input method. Really, you can be just as fast or maybe even faster with the suretype.
Suretype works well for me too. This phone looks really nice.
sure type rocks!
yes, folks, you too can finally use your crackberry to take pictures! as if you didn't use it enough!
now if someone put a "myspace blog" menu icon in there, all those myspace junkies could find themselves another fix.
Come join the HoFo thread on the 8100:

See you suckas there.
i have the 7105t now and i love it but its way too slow for me but this is sweet but what are the full spec on it does it have intel xscale in it , how about GPS or even internal memeory , screen resolution , video support format and audio support format its what little things that will make it or break it but bb make good products so i know they wont let us down and it a huge update for them since the whole court issue and also be nice if bb buys palm
i would live to see these features on a thinner 8700.
What's with the complaints about SureType...
I find it more comfortable than a full sized QWERTY as you don't have to reach for all these little keys, and it's far far better than a standard phone pad where you have to remember a different layout to normal keyboards..
Sice I got a BB 7100t, I won't buy another phone without this setup, which means either a few BBs or the Sony one...
no more scroll wheel. it has been replaced with a trackball. from what I have heard from a couple of inside sources who have actually played with this thing, it is damn sweet.
WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE FOR VERIZON?
Will they now have some work around to assist in "dialing by name" in voicemail systems? If I only have my BB, how am I supposed to know what key "R" is? I have to carry around (or tape to the back on my BB) a card with that info. Is there a third party work around or a shortcut I am missing and if not, can't RIM figure something out? They have discovered voice dialing about 6 years late so I guess there is hope.
To use normal touchtone letter assignments, just hold down the alt key (the one you use to make a question mark or a number when you're entering text) and press a number while you're dialing a phone number or on a call. Press the number multiple times to cycle through the letters.
That s*** is hot son got to get it just wish it was a little bit bigger but its hot
Does anyone know when/if the Blackberry 8100 is going to available for Verizon users?
Oh wow!
I never realized how kool that thing looks, I have to get it! I just have to! This phone might be the one, I think this is it!! Lol, if I get this phone then I'm gonna be through with phones for a long, long, long Time!!
Does anyone know how much this phone will cost without a plan?!
Send me an email if you know!

I've used both the 7100 and an E61. SureType is the better input method, because it's faster to input a message than with the full E61 keyboard and it's automatically spell-checked. I've been looking for a similar app for the E61, but so far no luck.
