The Boy Genius Report: BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2

[Looks like Boy Genius didn't take off for Labor Day either. Today it's the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager -- tomorrow, who knows what? -Ed.]
I got a look at the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.2 today I'm thrilled! Media Manager, Switch Device Wizard, when will it stop? RIM has updated the desktop manager to reflect the new Pearl and media features. Everything is self contained, so even though 8100 goes into mass storage mode when you connect it via USB, it is all also accessible from the comfort of your BlackBerry Desktop Manager. The switch device wizard is a godsend for all of us who constantly change our devices -- and it is not limited to BlackBerrys, either. It also will help if you are coming from a Treo or Pocket PC device. Click on for some shots!

Every time I try to open the Media Manager it shows "error":
"runtime error" Program:C:\Program Files\Roxio\Media Manager 9\Mediamanager9.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more info.
I have removed the program and re-installed it few times ...but the problem is the same all over again.
Could anyone advise me?
Thanks
I have exactly the same problem.
Win XP Pro SP2. Not certain what other information would help.
On switching to the Media Manager an error window pops up:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\...\MediaManager9.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I've been looking all over the Roxio and Blackberry website and can not find anywhere that makes sense to report such an error.
Please Help!!
Is this Windows-only? PocketMac has been doing an admirable job of syncing my 7105t to Entourage (strictly as a backup) but the new Desktop Manager looks really sweet. Maybe it's time to throw Windows XP onto my MacBook if this is indeed a Windows-only deal. In any case it looks like the optimal solution for getting my stuff onto my Pearl in a few short days.
Does it work with mac???
my N7610 is?
When are where is it available to download? I have been waiting for this; as the 4.1 was buggy.
I have a Nextel 7100i.
Thanks for your review!
I have just purchased a BB Pearl which came without software. Is the Blackberry Desktop v4.2 available for download now, and if so, can you provide download details?
Oh. My. Gawd. And this whole time I was fretting about the details of upgrading to the Pearl from my 7100t. No worries now!
Thanks for the info!
Marc
Hi,
With reference to desktop manager 4.2, this can be downloaded here https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
I haven't tested it yet, but it's a blackberry download, though you will have to fill out a few details before it'll let you download.
Hope this helps
Justin
I am using this and having trouble getting it to generate a key. I am on a BES, and without a redirector button to manually tell it to generate a key, I am at a loss. Any ideas?
Is there a Blackberry Desktop Manager that works with Mac? I have the pocket mac, but only use it for synching calendar, tasks, & contacts...I want to upload photos from my Mac into my Bberry Curve 8300...Would anyone know...?
Hey JeffEvans,
you get any feedback on a Desktop Manager working with MAC? I´d love ta get a more complete solution then just PocketMac.
BTW, what´s up the guys at RIM/Blackberry? MAC´s are everywhere, why no software???
