BlackBerry Pearl official

Right, like you needed RIM to tell you about the Pearl at this point. Ok, well, here it goes: RIM officially announced the BlackBerry Pearl tonight for T-Mobile USA launch on... wait for it... September 12th, and on Rogers in Canada in October. The price wasn't disclosed, but c'mon, don't you trust us? (Psst, it's $199 with service agreement.) Oh, here's the final spec list, just in case you weren't paying attention previously:

• 240 x 260 65k color display
• 1.3 megapixel camera with flash
• 64MB flash and microSD
• Media playback with MP3, AAC, MPEG-4 (h.263)
• Trackball (i.e. the pearl in Pearl)
• Bluetooth 2.0
• SureType keyboard
• quad-band GSM / EDGE
• 4.2 x 2.0 x 0.57 inches (107 x 50 x 14.5mm)
• 3.1 ounces

ok so does anyone have any idea whatsoever for when this is comming out on cingular? i am kinda pissed that i got a 7130c a few months ago when this is basically an update, a very large on on that

also does anyone have any idead about the media abilites on a mac, i saw there was updated desktop software anyone know if this finally includes mac support built in????

anyone know if this will be unlockable for use on any network? i live in australia and don't know if this phone will come out here. i'm thinking i'll get an unlocked one off american ebay. so hopefully, it's unlockable...

I'm still a bit confused about this whole "suretype" keyboard thing. Do you press a button once for Q and twice for W? Or is it sort of a horizontal rocker key?

The Pearl is on the front page of today's Wall Street Journal Marketplace section and they confirm that the price will be $199 with T-Mobile.

#2: Yeah, it will be unlockable. If not by the normal 3rd party means then by T-Mobile who will unlock phones for those who have been customers for more than six months.

#3: It's predictive text just like on any other phone except designed for this QWERTY/2 style keypad.

I don't have a date on the Cingular release but my sales rep indicated that is should be early in November.
