Just as the hype is dying down on that
last SureType device, our pal
Roc A Fella got his hands on
T-Mobile's latest, the
Samsung T719. This new addition to the family that uses RIMs BlackBerry Connect, and, as we know, features a rotating 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, quad-band EDGE, and 25MB of internal memory (sorry ladies and gents, no expandability memory here). One more live pic after the break -- probably worth checking out, this is a device we can stand behind.
I just bought one of these last night. It's amazing to find a BlackBerry device and quad-band phone crammed into a clamshell slightly smaller than the RAZR. The SureType keyboard takes a little getting used to, but really does work well.
The only downsides I've found are: 1. no GPS chip and 2. T-Mobile's service. I'll have to buy an outboard Bluetooth GPS receiver to get the same GPS features I enjoyed on my old Moto RAZR V3c. I'll have to get the phone unlocked and move to Cingular to get the coverage and reception I need.
Overall, it's a great mobile.
This article is incorrect. I have been carrying this phone for a week (I am an employee of the above named company,) and it is AWFUL. The t719 carries 512Mb of on board memory. The keyboard is extremely poor however, in that the buttons are very stiff and you cannot press more than one key at a time, making the shift or character keys a 2-button affair. This phone gets a big 2 thumbs down from me.
