Samsung to add A707 to Cingular's 3G lineup
So apparently, we weren't the only ones to notice that Samsung's ZX20 was getting whooped in the looks department by its Cingular stablemate -- from arch rival LG, no less -- the CU500. The stumpy antenna, the thick, plasticky body... not design attributes you're necessarily looking to rock when trying to get the word out about your hot new 3G network. The new SGH-A707 looks to make good on the ZX20's promise, offering a 2-megapixel cam, comprehensive media support (including DRM'd Windows Media), and that lovely HSDPA radio in a 17.5-millimeter clamshell package. No word on a release window, but we don't see a secondary cam for that not-until-2007 video calling stuff, so we reckon this thing has a shot at seeing the light of day before too long.

Hi, i'm trying to figure out how to enlarge the text for this phone. But i cant seem to find it. can someone help me.
I have had many cingular reps from different sources tell me the tennative release date is nov 16th.
Had this testing A707 for about a month now. Very beautiful screen, fast UMTS/HSDPA connections. If you have an older Cingular SIM card, you need to upgrade in order to get on high speed network. When opened, it's like a big flat shoe -.-, not very fond of that... will stick to my Sprint A900 for now...
that model looks suspiciously like JAV actress Maria Ozawa. . .
that is true this phone is comeing out on the 16th my birthday hmm i think ill get it as a present to my self. where also getting the nokia n75 and n80 in around december i was told,
I just got the phone today (11/8) from the Cingular store in Columbia MO. Nice little phone but the volume isn't that great. Haven't played much with it yet though
I just picked up this phone (11-8) in northern californa. Typical Samsung so far. I dislike that the outer screen won't light up with the push of a button. Have to open the clam to check the time...
Just picked up an a707 today and I can't for the life of me figure out how to email a picture. I want to be able to upload to Flickr from my phone but looks like MMS is my only option. :(
You can light up the external display by holding the volume up or down button for 2 seconds (but not if you push both at the same time.) I kind of like this feature because it means I won't be activating the display if the buttons get bumped while its in my pocket.
Thats crap, you might aswell open phone. Takes to long.
I have read a lot of bad reviews for this phone, but bought one anyways just to see it all for myself. I must say I have never been happier with a phone. Ok so its not as thin as a RAZR. So what, its not as fragile as one either. I have a friend with a RAZR and when we compared our phones he fell in love with the screen on the Sync. As for me, well I think it the TFT display is one of the clearest, prettiest screens I have ever seen on a phone. The delay when activating the front screen does feel a little long but its not that bad, at least this is the first phone I've had that would let me do more to the front screen than just choose the look of the clock. The battery seems to last for a decent amount of time. The mp3 player works great for me. I made a few small playlists but mostly just go to "All Music" and through it on shuffle. The MicroSD (Transflash) memory is fantastic! Sure its no iPod but 1-2 gigs of music is a lot of music. I have 18gigs of music on my pc but when choosing what to put on the phone always seem to never quite fill it. I don't really use the data link stuff cause I have no real need for it so it just runs my bill up mostly but tryed it when I first got the phone and was suprised how fast things load. Personaly I would have to say it you are looking for a cell that plays music its great. If your looking for a pc in your pocket then stop bad-mouthing cell phones and just get a freaking blackberry.
How do you down load pictures from A707 to computer?
I have the A707 and my front LCD screen looks as though it has cracked and was bleeding for no apparent reason, I have not dropped or damaged this phone in any way. There are no scratches or marks on it. I have only had the phone since March 5, 2007, i called cingular to contact the warranty department and they are saying it's a not covered under warranty because it is the cause of personal damage. I am furious that I pay this much for a phone and it breaks. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have had the exact same problem, the bleeding front LCD screen I have not dropped it and there are no scratches. Cingular refused to even talk about replacement because it was "dropped and the screen cracked". Samsung said they would repair it for 100.00!
My SYNC's screen broke after only a few months, I am a student and this phone recieves what I would consider gentler than normal treatment. The screen broke while sitting on a table one day. This is a frustrating issue, but the bigger problem is that I am now having bigger, usability related problems with the phone, and AT&T refuses to replace it because the cracked screen has VOIDED THE WARRANTY! My dad has the same phone, whose screen cracked one day while in his pocket. What's up with this?

I have the A707 and this last Saturday I pulled it out of my pocket because someone was calling and when I looked to see who it was, the front display looked cracked too. 5 minutes before that, it wasn't. I don't know what the deal is with that. I've had my phone about a month and a half now, and I know that I haven't dropped it or anything. It just randomly cracked? Something's up.. before this, the phone has worked flawlessly.
Wow, something is terribly wrong with the Samsung A707 because the same exact thing happened to me about 30 days after I purchased it. One minute the front screen was ok and the next it was bleeding. I never dropped it or banged it against anything. Cingular told me that it's a data phone and because of that there is no warranty. There has to be something we can do.

I have 4 of these phones. so far 2 of them have the exact same symptoms. the inner screen on the front looks cracked and bleeding my daughter told me she didn't drop her phone and i didn't believe her until the same thing happened to my phone.
Our front screen went suddenly after 2 months. ATT had replaced it with a reserviced one when the main screen went at that time. Did they ever fix or replace it for you?
HOW DO YOU DOWNLOAD PICTURES FROM SAMSUNG A707 TO COMPUTER
Send an MMS with your email address as the "number." Then just download it from your email. And be careful you don't look at the phone wrong, the outside screen might break and it'll be "your fault" according to AT&T
How do I change the text alert to one of the tones I download? When I try to change the text alert it will only let me change it to one that came on the phone.
When you find out..please let me know..thanks!!
when you find out please let me know..
My front screen cracked also and i didn't even drop or bump into anything. It is not the lcd that cracked but the plastic piece over it. You know what plastic looks like if you bend it(turns white)is what the crack looks like. How does this happen when you never abuse a phone and always keep it in a case.
I bought a Samsung A707 (Sync) for my wife from ATT and front screen cracked. Phone was not dropped or abused in anyway. We have had phone less than 30 days and ATT (and Samsung directly) both refuse to do anything about replacing phone. Still trying!
Note that online ATT return policy implies phone can be returned even if damaged and they "may"
charge you $25 restocking fee.
