A Treo 750w on Sprint: is CompUSA confused?
So, last time we checked, the Palm Treo 750 was a GSM / GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSDPA handset destined for the likes of Vodafone and Cingular. So why is it, then, that a couple images have leaked out of a draft CompUSA ad offering a Sprint 750w with "EDGE/EVDO technology" for a cool $300? Hey, if Sprint wants to rock an upgraded 700wx with GSM for global compatibility, far be it from us to complain -- but something tells us our friends at CompUSA just got a little confused while getting their ad flyers ready.

That would be sooooo cool. That could also mean the 680 would follow. I'm betting on CompUSA being confused tho'...but here's to keeping up the hope!!!
I work for compusa personally and thats a hand made tag...first theres no sku # second i checked our database theres no such thing...and yes we do carry the 700wx...as for the 750 its not real...im waiting for confirmation from both the sprint account exuctive president of the new england states and my stores cingular rep...dont believe the picture
I used to work at CompUSA. When we were bored we would sometimes make our own signs. Like 84" iMac only $19,999.99. That kind of thing. I wish I would have thought of something like this. The funny part is that 99.9% of people would never know anything was amuk. Yes, I just said amuk.
i was at a sprint store two days ago looking at a treo 700wx, and the sales rep mentioned that the 750 was going to be released soon, so may be it is coming to sprint.
About the comment "Posted at 9:07PM on Oct 29th 2006 by Jose A Jimenez Jr.", I thought CompUSA didn't carry Cingular... what Cingular rep?
CompUSA does, in fact have a contract with Cingular.
It simply may not be in your area.
we do carry cingular...i can assure you that because ir eceive there employee plan.. my acount rep for the sotre i work for is david.... well i dont know much about when stuff will be released exactly since we are more liek 3rd party and get it after the main stores get it,as for cingular we suauly are on point...i mean my store specificaly had the v3is for cing before the actual cingular store had them...they were going for 50 bucks after the 2yr...
I work for CompUSA in Arizona. Jose is right. That is a handmade tag. And yes CompUSA does carry Cingular. Comp carries Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon. Just not all stores carry all services.
And plus, it's not even on the right type of tagging paper.
The images of the price tag are from CompUSA. They are printing out price tags, getting ready to sell them. Did you miss the 3 photos?
I work for CompUSA in Altamonte Springs, FL. The other CompUSA employees who posted are right, this is a fake. In addition to everything they already said, anybody else notice the "Screen 1 of 1" on the top? Anyway, there are so many glaring mistakes on this it's not even funny. Either someone's a moron, or someone's messing with us.
Hey Bill,

CompUSA doesn't sell price tags...
Well whether Sprint will be carrying a 750 or not, the sign is definetely wrong because it also says EDGE/EVDO. Sprint does not have a Edge network. Only Cingular and TMobile have Edge. Sprint and Verizon have only 1xRTT (really slow) or EVDO (really fast). Nothing in between. (Cingular offers three speeds with GPRS, Edge, and UMTS/HSDPA)
So either it was meant to be a Cingular / Tmobile sign, or it was meant to say Sprint with 1xRTT/EVDO. That is unless Palm has a secret phone that supports both CDMA and GSM platforms. Now that would be great!
Rumors no more! I was at my local Cingular dealer in a Baltimore suburb. I asked my sales rep when they were getting in the new Treo. He handed me a print-out from Cingular and I saw for myself that they will be getting the Treo 680 AND the Treo 750w in November. I'm not sure if I was supposed to see that printout. The sales rep was relatively new. But, I saw with my own eyes that both Treos are on their way.
@Barry
Uh, we already knew that the 680 and 750 were getting released on Cingular. This article is regarding the 750 getting released on SPRINT.
I could only hope that Palm had a CDMA version in the works. Altho, the first time I pulled up the UK Palm site on the 750, it showed it supported CDMA in the comparison chart, did anyone else see that? Probably a mistake but I should have taken a screen cap...
