We know Verizon Wireless has internally announced the launch of the successor in the Chocolate series, the LG VX8600, but now we want to shed a little light on what you'll have to pony up to get one. Pricing specifics are $249.99 for full retail, $229.99 on a one year, and $179.99 on a two year servitude contract. Look for this device to launch November 15th. Now how quickly can you eBay that white chocolate you just bought?
when you consider the KRZR is $249.99 for 2 yrs, I'd say it's great pricing. I've found LG phones to have better reception and much more resiliency than Motorola phones, so getting more for less is my kind of deal!
As for the 9900, look for that to be out around 11/20. The release keeps getting pushed back thouh, so not definitive yet.
As always, with any manufcaturer, you have those who vehemently deny and agree to anything you say. As for reception and durability, I can only speak for the majority, not evry individual. I suppose we can open up a whole forum dedicated to which manufcaturer is better.
I finally got to play with this phone today and man it is sick! I kept going back and forth using the 8600 and the KRZR to see the differences and I gotta give the edge to the 8600. It seems a tad thinner than the KRZR, it's overall about a tall, and it's width is more like a RAZR. The 8600 has a larger outer display screen and inside on the flip it's got a larger screen too. They seem about even for reception and signal (both pretty good) but I have had much better luck with LG's than Motorola's myself.
well...i've had lg phones and i now have a baby pink razor by verizon and that has a few software issues, my biggest complaint(seems to be everybodies)is the battery charge time...doesn't hold out too long. I'm looking forward to seeing the Lg vx8600 and the lg vx9900. I hate the chocolate phone, heard too many complaints about how sensitive the touch keys are and losing calls when put to your face (hence touching on the face). I was going to purchase the LG-V, but worth waiting to see these two coming out...hopefully the release dates that are "rumored" are true :)
I've been a Verizon costumer for 2 years (I completed the 2yr contract at the beginning of Nov). I currently have an LGVX7000 and love it, but want to upgrade. I've had Motorola flips in the past and this LGVX7000 blew them away on the durability and screen appearance scale. Again, this is dating back prior to two years ago. I looked at the LG Chocolate slider a week ago but couldn't pull the trigger (and glad now!). Verizon got the LG VX8600 flip today! Bottom line is that I was instantly impressed and bought it today.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Finally this phone will be out....now how much longer for the VX 9900?
All the boards I read say this phone would be out first and then the 9900 so I'm happy.
I'm going back and forth between this phone and the 9900 cause I like the qwerty keyboard on the 9900 but not really a candy bar style phone fan.
Pricing seems cheap though...anyone agree?

LG getting better reception than Motorola? On what planet?
"LG getting better reception than Motorola? On what planet?"
I think he was referring to this planet, Earth
Will it have a flash as well this time?
Phone doesn't have a flash.

What's with LG and no flash with their phones????
I believe that's their motto. "Our phones won't have a flash". Not very catchy, but effective.
What are the dimensions on this compared to the KRZR?
Thanks,
Chad
