First, we heard rumors that Verizon Wireless would be getting an updated Motorla Q, then came the
upgraded specs of this black beauty. Then the supposed
MVNO version for Amp'd Mobile showed up in our life. Finally we had a sneak peak of what would be the
HSDPA version. And now the flurry of pictures continue. However, this time it's for Verizon Wireless and unfortunately the keypad doesn't look as snazzy as its GSM counterpart. A Howard Forums member decided to give us all a little treat and show us this new
rubberized black beauty.
No word on what the exact specs that Verizon will be giving us, but we are sure they won't neglect us this time around. Now try not to drool and check out some more pics after the break!
Update: Coorys00, a Howard Forums member and the one that took the pictures just contacted us and let us know more about the Black Q. It turns out the device internally the same as the current CDMA Q on Verizon Wireless. The only change to the device is the black outter shell.
is it coming to Sprint? or does verizon still have exclusive rights?
That's not a Q Pro you boneheads, it's a Q with black casing. Same hardware. Different color.
How about a screenshot of the device specs to clear up any confusion. ;)
I love how almost every "in the wild" pre release picture of anything with a screen looks as if they just wiped it against someone's greasy forehead.
I agree with PSOmaster (without the bonehead part). The pics you posted earlier of the Q Pro had a different button arrangement at the top of the keypad then this. This has the original Q layout. Go look at the pics of the "Norman" and then look at this. Different, end of story... unless the "Norman" mock up isn't the Q Pro...
"That's not a Q Pro you boneheads, it's a Q with black casing. Same hardware. Different color."
I agree. That's nothing more than a black Q. The "Pro" you guys showed the other day is a completely different formfactor.
What is engadget smokin'?
I doubt it's the Q Pro.
Any Q's Coming to Sprint?
Just to clear up a few things.
1. That is the Q Pro.
2. All those pics were taken inside a Verizon store, I know this. I have been behind those desks.
3. The Q Pro will probably be available before the year end
4. The "Norman" is an entirely different animal, notice the fact that it doesnt have a click wheel-the Q doesn't have a touch screen, why would Moto ever do that?
5. The "Norman" is thick, the Q was always meant to be a PDA phone that beats the RIM's and the Treo's in portability.
6. Freaking sweet!
JMD
Maddog just got neutered as Coorys00 (the source of the pics and info) has clarified that this is simply a Black-Q. Nothing more/nothing less. Muchado about very little.
Whatever the case, I am drooling over the Moto Q regardless. I can upgrade in May using my Merits benefit with Verizon Wireless. I am sure looking forward to getting my hands on one of those QPhones!
will you be allowed to access aim/yahoo/ms messenger from it instantly
Man, I knew this would happen... the minute I think about picking up a Q, the pics come out of the black one. What to do...what to do...
Well black is nice for the Moto Q but honestly it really lacks quality. I should know I have plaid with it for some time and even before it was released and unless they made huge improvement to the internal design and quality of parts it’s a headache. This device design needs quality control to correct very poor battery life and usability. By far Blackberry has a solid design and ease of use. All others are just trying to mimic what has already been hailed the best in what it does. My fellow techies when Microsoft releases a newly designed user interface and integrated mobile office into the smart phone version of Windows Mobile OS then maybe we will have something worth buying. My recommendation is stick to Blackberry or buy a Palm that has the full blown Windows Mobile OS with Mobile Office integrated, you'll be much better off. This is just my opinion based on my experience in the industry.
Overall the Q really aint that bad, but yes a Palm Treo 700p or w would be a better choice. What makes the Q so popular is it's low price amongst VZW PDA/Smartphones and it's slim size and style. I think the black looks pretty cool.
WHEN....??? IS THIS THING COMING TO VZW STORES IN CALI??
