Yeah,
early reviews seem to indicate that Sony Ericsson's MBW-100 Bluetooth (along with its
Fossil and Abacus cousins) watch isn't all that, mainly on account of its bulk, its price, and the fact that it only seems to work with Sony Ericsson phones -- but that doesn't mean it isn't still cool. Reader Gareth was kind enough to send us some comprehensive eye candy of his MBW-100's unboxing, and he reports a pretty positive experience with it so far. In pairing it with his
P990i, he found that setup was super easy and the controls / caller ID were quick to operate, but the crown jewel might be the "out of range" functionality that notified him quickly when he left his abode sans phone. Click on for the rest of the pictures!
[Thanks, Gareth M.]
Quite possibly the most un-usable item of 2006
Aw, can we get some on-wrist pictures? Perhaps an operational video?
Looks sweet.

I think that this thing has too much packaging.
I know that "unboxing" is our attempt to compensate for a lack of intimacy in the modern world, but still- this is just too much paper/plastic for my tastes.
Now, can we just go back to that Koguru in the school girl uniform who chatters away while Asimo falls down the stairs please?

So, it only works with Sony Erickson phones?
Why would they do that?
I'd buy this for my Sammy i730...
Now this is what i am chatting about, real class and style and very futeristic. I want one like yesterday and i mean i do want one. Buy me one Engadget you know i love you so much. Love me the poor one fom London.
just received this watch...it's absolutely gorgeous! Just the looks are worth the purchase. Bluetooth is a nice feature espcially when used in conjunction with headset. Only problem is the battery, when it runs flat the analogue time also stops - it should have used a seperate battery for this.
I have a SE P990i and have read in many places that the watch is not compatible with the P990i (even on the SonyEricsson.com website) but you mention that it is easily paired with the P990i, could you confirm this please, no problems at all?
