Verizon preps to launch Motorola SLVR
Looks like Sprint won't have bragging rights after all as Verizon Wireless preps to be the first national carrier to launch the CDMA version of Motorola's popular SLVR phone. From the L7 to the L7c, the feature set has remained the same from with a 262,000 color display, VGA camera, expandable memory via microSD, and bluetooth. We still can't figure out why Motorola didn't up the resolution on the camera like its i-mode cousin though. Stay tuned for the price details!
Update: Verizon is not the first national carrier to launch the SLVR L7c. This device was launched in November 2006 by Sprint. The device is currently an exclusive to Best Buy locations.

how about some news about all the other phones verizon is supposed to release this month!

:moot:
Tsk, Sprint, Sprint, Sprint. Pwned again.
actually no.. Sprint has had the SLVR since November.. its just been sold as a Best Buy Exclusive...
About time...
What a pathetic bit of "reporting". Like one poster has already mentioned, Sprint has been selling the SLVR since November...so how again is Verizon the first national carrier to have it?
Engadget...what is happening to you?
First the W315 (the one that looks like a poor man's PEBL with the giant Nextel-esque external antenna), and now a rehash of the year old SLVR. As if I needed a reminder of why I bolted and got an unlocked RIZR on T-Mobile.
Well, at least this expands their portfolio of bar/slider phones from one to two. The barely usable VX8500 (which shipped with no speakerphone!), and now the SLVR, with its VGA camera and 65k screen. And of course the red VZBorg UI.
also note that the screen on this phone is not 262k its only 65k... This article has inaccuracies left and right.
TheLance is correct, Sprint has been selling the SLVR via Best Buy. Whoops
I just wanted to make a comment to all those wining about Sprit having the phone since November, the article states that VerizonWireless will be the first national carrier to launch the "CDMA" version.
And Jason...its not whining, Sprint is CDMA too
US Cellular's been selling this for a few weeks, too. Not national, of course, but still deadens the "wow, neato!" factor in this.
Is this going to be corrected or fixed? I sent a correction a while ago.
Sprint is a national carrier and has been selling the CDMA SLVR L7c since mid-November. Verizon will NOT be the first.
"8. I just wanted to make a comment to all those wining about Sprit having the phone since November, the article states that VerizonWireless will be the first national carrier to launch the "CDMA" version"
Hey other Jason, Sprint is CDMA.
LOL What a moron, sorry it's called for here.
I would expect better from Engadget....they should know that the SLVR is available from Sprint like others have said since mid-November. So Verizon doesn't get all the credit, HA.
When does vrzn get this phone?
Yeh. This article is nearly two months old. Where the fsck is the Verizon SLVR? I admit this isn't anything new, but my phone just broke and Verizon's current phone offerings suck. Hard. By comparison, the SLVR would be a blessing.
It's true, Verizon's selection is piss poor.
Whats the delay on this one?
