AT&T's Unity plan widens "unlimited in-network calling" umbrella
If you still haven't managed to wrap you mind around this whole AT&T / Cingular dealio, don't sweat it -- you're not the only one. Luckily, all you need to know that if you're currently getting a pair of AT&T bills, one for your cellphone (Cingular), one for unlimited local calling and long distance on your AT&T (or BellSouth) landline, you're about to have a chance to save some Anytime Minutes and worry about one less bill with the new AT&T Unity plan. With about 100 million phone numbers being serviced by the new AT&T deal, it sounds like a good amount of people are going to be enjoying the benefits of the merger. Unfortunately, consumers that are currently getting by on just a mobile line won't be able to talk for free to their newfound AT&T landline brethren unless they sign for an unlimited landline as well -- which goes for about $50 a month -- so not quite everybody is going to be feeling the love.

otsego, you should see the video, it is hilarious. Search "att" on YouTube.
EngadgetMobile: Way to take a negative stance on a compnay coming out and offering MORE to consumers than they have today as most people have not "cut the cord". No, it does not apply to everyone but it also, is NO ADDITIONAL charge to folks who do.
Way to spin the negative...
I still don't understand why anyone would have a landline unless they can't get wireless at their home. Otherwise, it seems like a waste of $50.
I don't understand why if you have a cell phone (being that almost all of them offer free long distance) you pay for unlimited long distance on your POTS line? It seems kinda redundant.
tmcb: Because at&t wants more $$$. They dangle the free calling to 100 million people carrot as a way to get you to sign up for stuff you don't need.
Also, the Unity plans have no rollover. I repeat - UNITY PLANS DO NOT HAVE ROLLOVER.
The original Unity plan did not have roll-over. It does have roll-over now. I know. I have the plan.
Sounds all nice, I’m unable to get AT&T Unity Plans due to the fact where I live we cant get BellSouth or ATT, We only can get ALLTEL home landline which they have changed there name to Windstream. I feel this is unfair to the people that are unable to get the unity plan but I hope they have some type of rate plan so everyone is able to get free calls incoming calls careless if it was $20 bucks more it’s worth it cause they still making money off of us. It not right for AT&T making people sign up just for unlimited local calling and long distance I feel that people are going to pay more out of there pockets, We talking about 130.00 something a month. If you think about it you’re paying $30 for local calling then your paying for unlimited local calling which is $20-30 also unity plan which is 59.99 but yet makes no sense what’s so ever! I see other wireless that get free coming call, free text other fun stuff ECT but yet AT&T-Cingular is not as good ALLTEL, Sprint, Nextel, Verizon they also don’t need landline for free incoming calls so why AT&T?
