Verizon's Treo 700wx launch detailed

Palm pretty quickly realized the error of its ways in stuffing the original Treo 700w with a meager 32MB of RAM; the mistake was rectified in time for the launch of Sprint's 700wx, but that's been little consolation for Verizon customers unable to get the re-upped unit. Details are now starting to filter in on just how Verizon intends to right Palm's wrongs, scheduling its own 700wx for a February 20 release date. Sticker shock will be in full effect here: $620 at retail, $450 with a one-year agreement, $400 if you relent to a second year, though an additional $100 rebate makes it all a little easier to bear. Even better, the 700wx should come with tethering support out of the box. Too bad Windows Mobile 6 is left out of the equation, eh?

Both Palm and Verizon list the 700w with 128MB ram / 60mb storage (user accessible). So that raises the question: what's the difference between the 700w and 700wx?

Rach...Yes it is true, I spoke to a Verizon rep who I have worked with in the past and he confirmed it would be arriving sometime in the near future.

Drew...As for the differences, I am interested to know the same thing, as the rep I know did not have an answer to that.

Yeah, its true. I was trying to get it out to you but I was behind the random tipster. Slated for an channel release Feb 29th. Pricing is exact same as 700w but with that rebate and like I said, tetherable out of box... Gotta love it.

honestly, how many people in here have a pda and data plan with verizon? how many here spend 480 dollars extra a year for a verizon pda data plan? verizon could offer the treo 99.99 billion and it wouldn't be worth the extra money a month they charge for pda data access. so who cares what pda's they offer!

TONS of people get PDAs with VZW and data plans too. I sell them all the freakin time. I don't know what is worse, the fact that VZW charges more than Sprint for data or the fact that in spite of that more and more people join VZW and fewer churn, ha!
