"Missing Sync" for Mac OS X / BlackBerry about to hit shelves

Mac OS X aficionado? Check. RIM BlackBerry user? Check. Syncing a Mac and a BlackBerry? Not so fast -- until now. While RIM has had official syncing software available for years on the Windows platform, the faithful Mac crowd has once again been left behind. But, with Mac shipments upping the pace recently, perhaps hardware vendors will need to soon think again, eh? New "Missing Sync" software from Mark/Space is now available in a "public preview" format that allows Mac OS X users to synchronize data on their beloved Macs with their beloved BlackBerry smartphones -- with no unofficial hack needed. The solution uses a standard USB tethering cable and appears to be functional with many newer BlackBerry handsets, and owners of the BlackBerry Pearl and newer BlackBerry 8800 series handsets can even sync iPhoto albums and iTunes playlists. Although The Missing Sync isn't officially sanctioned RIM software, Mark/Space says that full release is expected by the end of March. You'll need Mac OS X version 10.4.8 and a BlackBerry handset running version 4.0 of RIM's BlackBerry OS.

I'm in UAE too and am wondering about how I can get a cheaper BB8800? Found prices very cheap in the US as compared to UAE and thought I could get an unlocked phone from there. Know anything about this? I'm eager to move to a BB but am also concerned about syncing with my MacBook!

Don't bother with PocketMac. I've spent countless hours tried to sync accurately. 15 minutes with Missing Sync and I'm there. Now, Missing Sync, add the email as well?
Just got PocketMac for my Pearl and took 5 hours and several retries to sync. Their log indicated numerous crashes and bad runs. They advertise 'rock solid testing for 14 months' and it is free, but free is premised on value added solution which is simply not there.
Will try Missing Sync and see if someone has better code.
I would agree with all those of you who say the PocketMac from BB is totally worthless. I just got my first BB, the Storm, and the PocketMac was a total joke. I fussed with it for some time to no avail and then found the MissingLink software. Not happy to have to pay for it, but if it works, then I will. I'm on the trial now and pulls in ALL my calendar events which PocketMac did not. But I had heard that RIM was putting out some cool new Apple Software to support the BB on Mac but can find nothing else. If anyone has any skinny on that would be helpful.
where can I get a free download to SYNC with my MAC in the mean time while they sort out

I too have had problems with pocketmac, what a load of crap. It never finishes it just sits there, stuck. What site can I purchase the one that actually works? Thanks
I know this is for Blackberry but since I am switching, figured it might help. I have used Missing Sync for Palm by Mark Space for just over a year. I have tried countless others and none have worked as flawless. Since I am getting the Blackberry Bold or Curve 8900, I will rely on Mark Space again.

Missing Sync is intermittent at best. Sometimes it works when tweaked with the Mark Space tech people's recommendations, sometimes not. This is not a reliable sync to the 10.5.6 operating system with the aluminum body. Neither is PocketMac.

Yeah, and it sucks. I've been testing MissingSync for BB. There are a couple of minor glitchs that need to be resolved, but Mark/Space seems pretty confident that they'll be cleaned up in time for v1.0 by the end of the month.
well regardless of wether the software sucks or not, there has been an offically supported option to sync with a mac for over a year...i wasn't to pass judgement on the software
Yes RIM has been supported for a LONG time on mac. Over a Year and the software just works, just like everything on a Mac. RIM has gone and bought the software outright from pocketmac, and has made it available for FREE for their Mac users. Rim is great and Software is flawless. Works great with entourage, iCal and many other calendar programs.
I am about to purchase Missing Sync. I have tried to use Pocket Mac for the six weeks I've owned my BlackBerry Curve. PM sorta kinda worked for the first three weeks (including inexplicable duplications and triplications of calendar events and weird error messages), but then it simply stopped working.
PocketMac is absolute worthless junk, in my own personal experience. You guys who say "RIM offers you software for free, and it works" are only half right. PM was free, all right--but free is no good if the software will not even recognize my BlackBerry when it's connected to my USB port.
I haven't been able to sync my device in over two weeks. So, yeah, I'll be buying Missing Sync.
Very interesting ~ I googled 'Can Motorola V8 sync with Apple OS X?' and came up with this page/answer. Motorola V8 is as good as a pda but accompanying software is 'for Windows' only. Is Sync ML reliable freeware? we're not BB users ~
