Verizon rolls deep(er) with $20 messaging plan
First, the good news: Verizon's just made its $20 texting plan a little sweeter. Now, the bad: it's still not unlimited -- and, oh yeah, you can count on paying $0.15 per if you go over. The word is rolling in that Big Red has upped out-of-network texts from 2,500 to 5,000 on its most expensive dedicated messaging package -- and although that's still technically not the unlimited plan some customers had been hoping for, personally, we know that our thumbs would be smarting something fierce after 5,000 texts in a single month -- but that's just us. For what it's worth, your hard-earned $20 will still buy you unlimited in-network texting, so get those hands on a workout regimen post haste.[Thanks, Matt]
Update: The text plans are still serving up overage at $0.10 per. Sorry for the confusion! [Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

can someone give me a link to were i can get this $20 a month plan
the overage is still $.10 per message. the $.15 per message only applies if you don't have a text pkg on the line
It's 10 cents for overages on any text/pix plan. If you have no plan it's 15 cents per a message.
The current txt/pix/flix plans are as followes:
$5 = 250 any network
$10 = unlimited IN + 500 off network
$15 = unl. IN + 1500 off network (formerly 1000)
$20 = unl. IN + 5000 off network (formerly 2500)
Yeah I know, still not unlimited all over but it's an improvement no doubt.
UNLIMITED Incoming Calls for $40
UNLIMITED Web access for $15
UNLIMITED SMS Text messaging for $15
And better coverage in my area than Verizon so happy i made the switch to Sprint.
Got tired of verizon robbing me
Yeah, Im swtiching to Sprint when my contract is up for this very reason. Verizon is too expensive.
Verizon:
1000 Minutes
Unlimited Data
5000 Texts
= $120/month
Sprint:
1000 minutes
Unlt'd TXT
Unlt'd Data
=$75/month
Plus when I questioned Verizons sales rep aggresivly throwing out the "big terms" like HSPDA, EV-DO, they just look at me like, "What are you talking about?"
Ok here is a better breakdown.
1,350 anytime mins
unl. data
unl. IN + 5,000 txt/pix/flix
$130 per month w/vzw
1,350 anytime mins
unl. data
unl. txt only
$105 per month w/sprint
Not as much of a difference as your example, but yes Sprint is still cheaper, yada yada yada.
What's funny is how quarter after quarter VZW still kicks Sprints ass in net adds and much lower churn
;-)
