T-Mobile has in the neighborhood of 20 million subscribers. AT&T/Cingular will not be buying them anytime soon. There's no way Deutsche Telekom will sell right now. At least not for far more than T-Mobile is actually worth and AT&T is not currently in a position to even consider it.
And it would NOT be sweet if AT&T/Cingular acquired both T-Mobile and Alltel. That would be way too much in one company, meaning we (consumers) would get SCREWED.
