The 8700 will be a little smaller. From my experience, LG phones are generally more compatable with the Verizon network. I'm going with the 8700, provided the speakerphone is better than on the 8600, because I don't care about the music player, and the RAZR thing is a bit played out. Plus I'm liking the screen shots of the 8700 a lot better.

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/CTIA-2007-Live-Report-article-a_1842-p_2.html

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/CTIA-2007-Live-Report-article-a_1842-p_3.html

Michael

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

8700 because it's not made by Motorola.

elgee02

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

I'm going moto maxx, I've loved my lg 8100, my ne2 is also up soon. Thats what I'm getting the maxx just because of the beefy external screen. I'll probably play with them both prior to a real decision but, the 8700's ext screen is non-existent, sure its sleek looking but i really like my external pic caller id. So thats my vote.

cd

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

My first phone was an LG. My second was Motorola. My wife has a Krzr. Both Motorola's had terrible cameras compared to my LG. Since all I want is a nice phone, decent camera and internet, I will probably go for the 8700. But I might wait to see what the reviews of each say.

I read a while ago the 8700 can be used as a USB drive. Is that still true? It is a real pain getting your own ringtones on the Motorola phones. I hope LG is still better.

beyond_ape

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

Yes, you can use the vx8700 as a USB Mass Storage Device. The salesrep informed me that while a few LG VX8600's may have an OK speakerphone, most do not. Because the phone is so thin and the speakers so small, the price you pay is very low volume on the speakerphone, low volume on the ringer, and about a one third shorter battery life than a more conventional size phone with a larger battery. That is the information I am hearing. We have to wonder whether the LG VX8700 will have the same problems or whether improvements have been made to the speakerphone and the battery life.

Jack

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

I think you spoke to someone who didn't know what they were talking about. I sell LG's left and right including the 8600 and rarely hear complaints about battery life or speakerphone. Plus during a normal day I use my 8600 quite a bit for calls, texting, and I play some games on it too. I never have a problem going a full day without needing to charge it.

That said, I doubt the 8700 will have any problems with speakerphone or battery life, but lucky for you Verizon Wireless extended their return period to 30 days so that should give you plenty of time find out for yourself should you ever get one.

elgee02

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

First of all, I don't know why people insist that their experience is the way it is for everyone and anyone who disagrees must be an incompetent moron. That said, look at the reviews for the 8600 on Phonescoop (probably the best resource for user reviews), and overwhelmingly the poor speakerphone is the biggest complaint. Nothing else is even close. I give a lot more credence to that than to one LG sales guy who might have a little bias.

Michael

Comments on Hot flips: launch details for Verizon's VX8700, MOTORAZR maxx Ve

So you think the VX8700 will have a better camera than the Maxx Ve?
