Motorola KRZR K1 launches on T-Mobile
T-Mobile has finally gotten the KRZR K1 out the door, giving all four of the US' largest carriers a piece of the RAZR successor pie. Like its Cingular cousin, T-Mobile's rendition lacks the touch sensitive controls and 3G data (not to say it'd do you any good quite yet) that the CDMA variant has, but good news: America's number two GSM carrier does get the KRZR in a barely-discernable exclusive color. After rebates are accounted for, pick 'er up now for $150 on contract.

And bringing up the back end of the wireless revolution (yet again), is T-Mobile. T-Mo has good service, good reception and the WORST phones. T-Mobile is on GSM, the same standard that all those super cool phones from Europe and Asia are on, can supposedly leverage their German parent to get access to super cool phones and instead what do we get??? Middle of the road Motorola blaaah.
Get it together guys. You can justify bringing up the rear when your market focus is kids and value buyers, but when you start wanting to sell your new high speed service for $40 a month (like the other 3 carriers have had for several years) you are going to have to have a better gimmick than being last to the party. Here's a hint, try cool phones when they are introduced, not 8 months later. People will pay big bucks for something if it is cool and offers them value, just look at Apple. They sell zillions of iPods and they will probably sell millions of iPhones.
this was news on Sunday when I emailed the tip in... way to break the news guys
Timmy O, time to take your nap.
I've shared the same sentiments as John a number of times; how can this German powerhouse of a carrier be so far behind on the handsets? I've been a happy T-Mo customer for years but the majority of my phones have been unlocked imports.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Their big loss on the 3G spectrum auction is gonna start hurting pretty soon.
Frank,
How did they lose big in the 3G auction? From my recollection they won spectrum in many areas and their average spectrum holdings in most areas will be on par with the other carriers.
