I work at RadioShack and have to agree with everything that is said. We do pretty much have to bring up wireless to every customer, it is practically mandated by our bosses. So get mad at the company not the employee.
Plus, yeah we are taking a huge hit in our cellular department. Alot of people like the poster think we still carry Verizon, but we have switched to Cingular (At&T) I wish we still carrried Verizon, I'd make a sale everyday, if we did. Since I still have customers coming in asking about it. As for them being a CDMA carrier, well I'm in a market where CDMA is alot better than GSM, particulary for DATA since EVDO is availible and UMTS is not. (and yeah I know the difference)
Let alone RadioShack dropped the ball on handset selection only now, are a few stores going to start carrying the BlackJack, only after it's advertising campaign has dried up. We might get lucky on the Upstage though, since we keep talking about it, like we will carry it at Launch with Sprint Stores, but to be honest, I'm not all that impressed by it.
We still haven't carried a new Sanyo phone since the Katana... And they've released, oh I don't know, Five models since that... It sucks. But hey, do me a favor, write in and complain, maybe somebody at the company is listening. Lord knows the associates are.
