Nokia 2610 officially available from AT&T
If you've been itching for a new entry-level Nokia handset for that low-tech relative or even as a backup phone, consider yourself served: AT&T is now carrying the Nokia 2160 for a mere $20 on contract as a replacement to the aging 6030. The 2160 has a CSTN screen, US dual-band GSM (850 / 1900), 2MB of memory and Class 6 GPRS. In other words, it's kinda a lowly phone with nothing to get exited about past being a voice device -- but it may just fit your bill if the need arises. What's with the Cingular branding though, AT&T? Isn't it time to move on?

A shaming look and the produce are good.
A "mere" $20 on a two year contract? I'd rather buy the 6030 for $30 with NO contract, or any number of other phones on other carriers that are either free or less than $50 but humiliate the 2610 in features
completely.
I'd cut off my own hair before I paid $20 with a two year contract for a phone such as this.
A few months later, and this phone is now available from AT&T as a refurbished no-contract GoPhone for $10. Don't know if that means anyone is actually going to want it. Despite the rather sad feature set, as a replacement for a 7-year-old Sony-Ericsson T68i, it looked like viable option to me. But then, I've cut my own hair.
