No T-Mobile Dash/HTC S620???
I'm confused too; I wouldn't have voted for the T-Mobile Dash, but certainly for the Nokia e61. Why isn't it listed? Why is the N93 listed?? It's a notable device, but a smartphone? I wouldn't have classified it as such.
The Motorola Q? Come on. What a POS! Doesn't even belong in the same category as the others.
The Q revolutionized the design of smart phones finally making them small enough to fit in ones pocket. While the initial firmware had its problems it is a formidable opponent to all of these different models.
The Q was the revolutionary device that spawned the Dash and Blackjack copycats. A vote for the Q is a vote for all landscaped QWERTY WinMob Smartphones.
I agree with sbono13. IMO the Blackjack improved on the Q concept greatly. It's the best phone I've ever used (traded up the TyTn for it). But the nomination is for the Q because it pioneered the form factor/idea.
How is the Blackberry Pearl a smartphone? It runs a proprietary, first party OS that is incapable of running native third party code.
The Blackberry Pearl is definitely a smartphone. I've got over a dozen third-party apps installed, including Java-based and native apps from Google, Opera, Infospace, Microsoft, and many more. It does everything my friend's Treo 700w does, but more efficiently, more reliably, and in a smaller package. They've got my vote.
