BlackBerry email still down, withdrawal setting in
As we noted last night, BlackBerry email is experiencing a service interruption of massive proportions, with the entire Western hemisphere unable to do the push email thing since 8PM EST on Tuesday. Things were supposed to be patched up by midnight last night, but apparently RIM is still trying to reset the system, and expects the problem to last into the morning. Even once the system is good to go -- and we are starting to here reports of some people getting their email -- it'll still take a while for RIM to process through the backlog of email, and the word is they'll be taking it slow as to not esplode the system again, so for all you CrackBerry addicts out there: you might be in for a wait, our thoughts are with you and your idle thumbs.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: BBC is now reporting that RIM has "most" of its North American network back, and that it's "closely monitoring systems in order to maintain normal service levels." (What were they doing before, playing ping pong?) As mentioned before, some users will experience delays as RIM clears the backlog of unsent emails.

my tmo pearl service has been back up since 8am. getting both emails and able to use my bloomberg service on my berry. i noticed it was down last night and several times over the past week though too - from EDGE to edge many, many times.
Our IT group is telling us that the problem is "intermittent," and that they're "working with RIM to restore service as quickly as possible."
...but I got that notice on my Pearl...
Direct Push on my 8125 works. There's no need for a separate network for email. Thats just a ploy to make more money.
There's a mail list setup at http://www.c2security.org/mailman/listinfo/bb-outage to notify people of this.
BB-Outage is a mail list for people to notify others if RIM's service is down in a particular area. if RIM is down in China, US, A particular state, city, etc, for people then post the area to the list so others are notified. It's probably best to subscribe from an address that's not associated with your Blackberry since if RIM's service is down, you won't get the e-mail anyhow
Blackberry up and running since 09:36 this morning. Email and Internet(8700c on Cingular). Good Luck everyone!!!!
Wow, doesn't the U.S. government rely heavily on BlackBerry usage?
Also, I didn't know that RIM routed emails through their own servers? That sounds like asking for trouble.
Hey Evan did you mean to post that here or somewhere else? And as far as direct push working on your 8125, well I have an 8525 & 90% of the the time my direct push Does NOT work. I am switching back to my blackberry tomorrow when the new one comes.
I'm getting email, but not all of them. Luckily, I use gmail, so I'm able to stay on top of them with the gmail software.
Meant to post it here. I don't think mine has gone down since I set it up. Check with your IT department.
