G'zOne Type-S for Verizon gets clearer
Is it just us, or does the Type-S variant of Verizon's G'zOne line of rugged handsets look decidedly less... well, rugged than its Type-V sibling? No matter; as long as it can actually stand up to the abuse it's designed to take, we're all for prettier handsets. Little is officially known about what the Type-S will bring us -- and it appears that little has changed since it first made its cameo a few months back -- though we now have a peep at the screen and keypad here, both of which appear to be standard fare. That in itself is impressive, considering that the unit should be waterproof; now just throw in Bluetooth and a decent cam and we're sold.

The new G'zone phone is a total waist of money, in my opinion. The sound quality is horrible. You sound like you are talking through a digital computer connected, mixed with a train wreck...
Also, the battery won't last a day even when the phone is not being used.
The phone seems to be durable, but a phone is primarily used for COMMUNICATION. If it has horrible communication, why have a phone?
I will NOT be recommending this to ANYONE and would highly suggest steering clear!
Ok guys here's the info you want...
The type S IS bluetooth (not music though) and has expandable memory (MicroSD card), both of which features the type V did not have. It still has the awesome 2.0 mp camera and all the durability of the type V sans most of the ugliness and bulkiness.
I think the faceplate on the W42CA looks better then this one but still it looks better then the G'Z One Type-V
Definitely excited to see this one hitting the street.
The thing that impresses me most - the features are fantastic and the phone should be great if it's as good as the first one - and makes me very hopeful is that Casio branding embossed on the front faceplate of the phone.
If Casio is self branding the new model then it looks like they might be ready to make a serious push in the US market - Verizon has pretty strict about branding of phones and requires a significant marketing investment from companies who want their name on the phone.
I would love to see some more Casio mobile phones in the US aside from their awesome G'Z One line.
Can't wait! The future of Verizon's phones may be getting brighter after all!
The future of Verizon's phones will be brighter if/when I have an LG Shine in my hands haha
I wk in Law enforcement and it this phone wks well, has the QVGA screen, 2.0 cam, bluetooth, with all the durability of the Gz Zone type V, I Hooked. I am due for the NE2 with Verizon in a couple of months anyway. Would appreciate any additional information.
Guys it has a 300k Camera (SUCKS!!!) and no vcast or evdo. LOW TIER PHONE ALERT
Are you sure...The type V has V-Cast and EVDO. Nothing indicating this one won't.
I'm a firefighter, and co-worker of mine has the type S and it's a great phone. The only thing stopping me from getting the Type V is the lack of Bluetooth, and the expandable memory. As soon as Verizon starts carrying the Type S, I'll be in line for one.
Any word as to how much it will be?
I seen this phone on e-bay for $299.00
I am selling the GZ ONE TYPE S on ebay now i got it before it came out and i am giving a fifty dollar verizon gift card
I read another comment, also on this website, that it has been pushed back to June 1st.... has anyone else heard this? That's disappointing if it's true.
how can i buy G'zOne in Thailand
I work in a steel mill in Texas and the type V phone has been absolutely perfect for us here. If the Type S is as durable in the Melt Shop as the V has proven itself to be, I'm all good...but going on looks, it appears to be lacking some of the meatiness and with the users I have on the type V this could pose a problem for us here. The added features are great, but if it's going to be a trade off on durability I'm out.
just got the type s and i am not as thrilled as i thought i would be.yes it has bluetooth and memory card slot but no v-cast....one thing i found i don't like at all is when you have an earpiece wired or bluetooth you better have bionic hearing because even with the earpiece volume turned all the way up you can barely hear someone talk...now granted maybe i have something set wrong but i don't think so...
Jeff, where does the expanded memory card go? My S does not have a place to install any additional memory. The slot on the left side is for the earphone, the slot on the bottom is for power. Nothing behind the battery. I cannot find any place to add memory.
The speaker phone is louder than the earphone, although at higher volume it gets tinny.
When exactly is that nice G'z One Type S being released?
I read that the release is May 31st and June 1st. Some had gotten it early because they found a store manager who hooked them up early.
@ dia:
You can't get this phone in Thailand. It is for Verizon, a CDMA provider in the USA. Thailand has no CDMA, rendering this phone unusable there.
i am sorry the type s doesn't have a memory slot.also going to return phone and get a different one...this is sad cause i really like the phone.the darn volume when you have a blutooth or wired headset isn't loud enough and me being a truck driver i can't hear a conversation...so that to me is a deal breaker.
