Motorola RAZR 2 hands-on
Well, it's finally here, the RAZR 2, proper sequel to the Motorola RAZR, one of the best-selling cellphones of all time. This newb's got big shoes to fill, but at least in its GSM / EDGE and CDMA variants it's 2mm smaller (sorry HSDPA fans, it's the same thickness for that flavor of 3G). For fans of the RAZR form factor, though, this is what you've been waiting for: two huge, crisp QVGA screens, Moto's JUIX Java Linux platform, 3G, HTML browser, the works. All that's yet to be seen is the price and carriers; we're guessing somewhere in the range of $500, like where the original RAZR debuted. (Also, we did spot Alltel and T-Mobile up in here.) We've got plenty of gallery shots to indulge yourself with, enjoy.

Ye Gods! Talk about a fingerprint magnet! It's worse than anything LG's put out so far.
I still prefer the old razr buttons. these seems more like the v3x. and as for thickness, i'm afraid it's going to be like that sanyo phone that sprint has, which i don't like at all. but v3xx thickness for hsdpa + video calling is alright by me, as long as i we can hack it like the other linux phones
What's the diff between the LAZR and the RAZR 2?
$500?!?!?!?
Why would anyone pay that much for this phone? You could pick up just about any other Windows Mobile Smartphone/Pocket PC Phone or even the iPhone, all of which are 10x more flexible and powerful than this overpriced hunk.
I think people would pay 500 dollars to be the first ones to have it (viz. iPhone).
It's not physically worth that much, but maybe to those who are emotionally drawn to being the first to have something (for maybe a few weeks), it's a dream come true.
Won't catch me shelling out that kind of dosh for a phone though.
If this phone debuts at $500 forget it. Only hardcore early adopters will jump at that. I'm guessing closer to $399 with 2 year contracts.
Wow, that looks fantastic - much sleeker than the original

sexy phone... when they talk about $500, they meant pre-contract unlocked price, any high-end GSM cell (SE, Sammy, nokia...) out there it's in that price bracket already..
Actually, only the V8 is Linux. V9m is old Synergy. V9 is either a beefed up Synergy or oddly enough possibly Symbian, like in the Z8.
The interesting thing is anyhow that Linux must be a huge failure. Wonder why.

$500...yet it has no flash for the camera? Not saying it's a dealbreaker for me per se, but it seems strange with all of the advances in the OS and design that they would leave something so mundane out, yet still charge so much. I agree that $500 must be anticipated full retail price.
$500 ?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Who the hell would buy one of these when iPhone is looming on the horizon. It's music/internet App is pretty pathetic looking if you ask me. I like that it's thin but it's only thin becasue it's long and wide. I don't think I'd pay anything over $100 if that, and most definitely NOT anything even close to 500.
This RAZR does look much more sleek than the first, but also looks just like the KRAZR. I have a blackberry and I love being able to check my myspace but considering its 500 new and this phone comes nowhere near it, I doubt too many people are gonna jump on this with a price tag like that. And I have to agree its only thin because its once again long and wide. Also no flash on the camera still isn't helping.. considering the iphone starts out at $600 and is almost here i'm def. leaning on that being my new purchase, sorry motorola.
