AT&T makes mention of the Nokia 6282 -- but why?
Remember the Nokia 6282, a Series 40 slider that -- once upon a time, anyway -- was supposed to be Nokia's first 3G device for North America? Of course, one thing led to another, and before you know it, here we are in mid-2007 just now celebrating Finland's finest adding UMTS to a device for these shores. Crazy how time flies, isn't it? A sharp-eyed tipster picked up an accessory pack from his friendly local AT&T shop and noticed this little gem, a fine-print mention of that long lost 6282. Is it even remotely possible that the carrier has plans to resurrect the phone? We think not -- the accessory pack has probably been sitting around since olden times when naive middle managers at Cingular believed such a promising device (for its day) would ever see the light of day. Of course, stranger things have happened, but we're not getting our hopes up here.

the cingular co-branded 6102 car charger also lists the 6282 as compatible. i noticed this a while ago but didn't think too much of it
i dont think this is much of a coincidence...we only just started getting packages that said "6126" on them a couple weeks ago, as this one does. i think this may be more of a typo than a coincidence as we do have the 6085 coming out soon and maybe that's what was supposed to be on there
That's the old Cingular boxes. The new Nokia accessory boxes are blue and purple and are completely decked out in AT&T logos and globes. However that doesn't completely answer why anyone put a phone on the cover that Cingular never shipped. The answer was just in case Cingy did ship eventually. The accesories are boxed by a 3rd party vendor who also makes the chargers and cases. They aren't always completely in the loop when it comes to product launches, so they stick to the safe side and slap on every compatible phone Cingular/AT&T MAY ship.
The trend of listing all compatible devices with accessory packs continues with the new AT&T branded BlackBerry pack which includes the 8300/Curve on the box.
if it was an old box why would it list the 6126 which just came out?
