Apple iPhone heading to prepaid crowd?
iPhone's going prepaid, really? Even though we already know AT&T intends to ask for a two-year contract to get hooked up? Considering the often dreary stable of devices holding down the prepaid fort on most major carriers, this was about the last thing we expected, but alas -- the Boy Genius appears to have tracked down documentation indicating that the iPhone has a date with prepaid destiny. Whether pricing will remain the same for prepaid accounts or whether it'll launch simultaneously with postpaid is unknown -- doubtful, we think -- but at any rate, it seems now that it won't take a contract to nab one of these things (just a fistful of cash and a little luck, depending on how scarce these things end up being for the next few months).

interesting csp portal shot. i wonder what the soc codes provision?
Hopefully, this guy get his butt fired. Especially, after the email EVERYONE got. Or better yet maybe Apple will pull the plug on the iphone. One thing for sure Cingy ATT has to many kiddies in the show and they can't keep a tight lip on anything.
@mrsalty- Without rumors and leaks the news would be mostly press releases, and I'd absolutely *hate* for that to happen to Engadget. So please don't say things like that, unless you want Engadget to be more boring for everyone.
This looks exciting!
No Credit, No Problem!!!!! We can get you an iPhone today so come on down to your Crazy Cingu... err AT&T Store today!!!!!!!!!
Oy! All these leaks and stories must mean that this phone is just around the corner. In a week or 2 we'll probably know everything there is to know about this thing.
I wonder if that's true. It seems pretty crazy, but I guess anything's possible.
wow thats is awesome now i dont need to get a plan.
so does this mean no one knows what the soc codes provision?
also, csp wouldnt list the items like that. they would each be on their own screens. either its a fake shot or they photoshopped the pic to make it fit on one screen
Duh, guys. Cingular has what now? GO-PHONES.
This is exactly what I was hoping for. Sweet.
Oh, man! This would be a sweet way to get this over to T-Mobile. I have no doubt that some smart hacker will figure out how to remove the sim lock.
This would be nice, but I can't imagine how much more it'd cost without a contract.
@Ben: It'll cost about $150 more ... that's the industry standard buy-down for signing a two-year contract.
So more people can buy into the hype...
Yeah that is a very intresting look of CSP , i work for AT&T for over a year formerly cingular and have never seen or heard anything about the iphone being prepaid, i hope alot of prepaid customers dont get there hopes on this because , i seriously doubt this phone will be offered for prepaid and heres why .... 1) COST , the IPHONE will start out over 500 dollars depending upon how much memory the consumer chooses to purchase it for. 2) The only 3 places that i have heard this phone will be available for purchase is at cingular stores, apple stores and possibly the cingular website which means indirect sales agents and or channels such as walmart, bestbuy will not offer this phone, last by not least here comes the phone part, even though the phone will not be technically offered for prepaid services, all a consumer has to do is purchase the phone and sim card and have it activated under prepaid services, that is really the only way this will become possible, but agreed whoever posted that should be fired for leaking information when it states in our code of conduct information of this sort should not be released
