Skype coming for UIQ 3?
If you believe everything you read, then the long-rumored Skype for UIQ may well be en route. Sony Ericsson's recently announced P1 may have let the Skype out of the bag with its whitepaper mention of "Skype – Voice over IP application that lets the user make mobile phone calls over the Internet." While this could be a typo, we're thinking (and hoping) that an announcement may be just around then bend. If you are in the know and can help debunk or substantiate the rumor, drop us a line.[Thanks, Teemu]

THIS IS A FAKE NEWS
THERE IS NO SKYPE FOR SYMBIAN
Fring doesn't work (crash or work if you pay for calls)
Iskoot dial a standard numbre in order to call "via skype"
no way to transmit video over wifi on decembre-2008 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just the day before yesterday, I filled out a survey on the Swedish 3 webpage about my Skype usage and whether or not I would like a Skype funcionality in a future phone. This is definitely a sign that they might be using Skype soon, I thought. Now, with this article, I'm even more sure.
Well for one thing, the X-series plan from the UK carrier '3' offers skype calling as one of its features, and when the plan was announced they had 2 phones in the portfolio - the Nokia N73 and SE W950, which runs UIQ. At launch they only had the Nokia, but I'm not sure how things stand right now. Needless to say, I always took it for granted that a UIQ version of skype was on the way, otherwise they couldn't advertise it as a feature..
What about the s60 version? I know that 3 has some kind of offering but there is still no official client.

Sony makes this happen and the P1 will be bought.
The P1 whitepaper R3A states Skype will be available via "Try and buy application that can be downloaded to the phone using a Web link in the phone".
This information is found in the third party app. support of the WP and notes "The list below may be subject to future updates, that is, new applications may be added,
others removed." The WP was last edited on May 16th.
It does name Skype specifically, which is promising. The RENA call centre hasn't heard anything specific yet.
p1 is amazing
i already have skype mobile on my HTC-620. Still beta, but works great. Glad i didn't wait for the iPhone.
why in the world would they release UIQ skype software? They have what, like 2 recent devices? Why wouldn't skype spend their time releasing software for nokia devices which hold a much larger customer base. Doesn't make sense to me, however, I completely support the release of Skype software for ANYTHING other than a stupid winmo device.
For Series 60, there is a freeware software called FRING. It can be found at www.fring.com
It supports Skype, MSN and few other voice messengers.
