T-Mobile Wing takes flight
Well, it's finally done: T-Mobile Wing née HTC's Atlas / Herald has lifted off. Obviously there are absolutely no surprises here for anyone who's been following this launch, but the thinner- hotter successor to the MDA comes out swinging with Windows Mobile 6 (Professional), quad-band EDGE data, Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera, WiFi, myFaves, a 2.8-inch QVGA display, microSD slot, soft-touch finish, and new and improved QWERTY keyboard. It'll be available tomorrow for $300 (with service agreement); stick around for some high res photography sure to tide you over until then. Early review roundup posted after the break.
Well, it looks like more than a couple had some units, dinnit?

they must get on this 3g deal...all these edge devices just aren't cutting it
Is it me or is slider the new clamshell... I can't say that I approve.
T-Mo won't get 3G till ~January. They were hoping for a Q3 07 launch but that isn't gonna work out. The preliminary network will be done by that time (in a handful of cities), then allot about 4 months for testing. I suspect data cards will come before handsets.
200mhz isn't terrible if you can overclock. Is it on a common processor?
That's too bad. I've been anxious to replace my MDA. I've had it 14 months, which for a phone/pda/smartphone lover like myself, is a long time.
I wish it weren't the case, but all I'd get if I upgraded to the Wing is a slightly slimmer phone, and WM6. It's not enough of an upgrade in features to justify getting a new one.
Having to put up with that ugly blue, and telling people that my new phone is the "Wing" would just add insult to injury.
It was on their website this morning (5/23), but now it is back off? What's up with that?
I almost wish I didn't just pick up the T-Mobile Dash.
Gimme!

I keep putting off buying a new phoning waiting for 3G from T-Mobile; I just read the in thread we have to wait until Jan...

Me thinks I need to buy something in the interim, maybe this is it. But with no discount for current customers, maybe not.

I want one. Or two that way I could race them.
Is this thing fast on 3G? Why is everyone making a different keyboard? :)
Cool
hey that looks niice
is this for the contest?
Now that my beloved Treo 650 is starting to need toothpick repairs I've begun to cast my eyes toward WM6 and the like. The pace of Palm/PalmOS dev is just too languid.
Toothpick repairs, you ask? Yes. It seems that the screw beneath my antenna worked itself out (it was the only one I hadn't used threadlok on), leaving the antenna with nothing to hold it in and the upper left corner spreading apart ominously. Sync and audio problems followed, and I haven't been able to find a replacement screw of the proper size. So I jammed a toothpick in there and broke it off. It is holding, but I'm definitely not feeling terribly secure in the reliability of my baby Treo...
The Wing, what can you say, its color is sharp, very cool keyboard, its the sort of thing you just to pick it up and start using it. It would be a big hit to fly with the Wing especially since I just sign with T-Mobile prepaid to try them out!!!-George
Ooh pretty. I want one. Too bad I dont have nearly enough cash for this. I guess Im gonna be getting the Sidekick ID
Oh Yeah!
