Samsung i620, the i600's successor?
Thin, yes, but you won't hear many folks call Samsung's SGH-i600 (the BlackJack in these parts) a beautiful phone. With Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone and HSDPA, it's very functional -- but the praise stops there. It looks like Samsung's poised to change that all-work-and-no-play image with the i600's alleged successor, though. Pictured above is a phone said to be the SGH-i620, a slider sporting just a 94 x 59mm outline when closed. Despite the tiny dimensions, the i620 maintains its smartphone status and actually one-ups the i600 by coming preinstalled with Windows Mobile 6 Standard. Other specs are up in the air -- Samsung hasn't officially announced this one yet -- but it seems that GSM 850 is nowhere to be found, so unless AT&T wants to have another go at it, we may not be able to use this one over here. The BlackJack has been a strong seller (hint, hint).

I was involved to this project. I've been always sorry that we couldn't launch this phone to U.S. because of a sort of contract issues with banders in U.S.
We just launched this one to only Italy, and U.K. ,Germany.
thank you.
That's certainly an interesting design...
I think I really like it...
I'm still waiting on the SCH-i760. It might be a bigger, but I'd prefer the side sliding keypad. I'd be interested to see their specs side by side. I do think I'll prefer the WM6 Pro over standard.
oh yea, that definitely LOOKS good from here....but I think I can feel my thumbs cramping already
it comes with front built in camera for video share. how cool it is!
Looks nice, but, without having a touch screen -- you'll have to slide it open every time you want to make a call. You should have access to some sort of dialpad without have to 'do something' to your device...
You've never seen a slider phone before. They make them with keypads, too, you just slide it open and start pressing the little buttons. What's so hard about that?
This is the device I WANT. Full keyboard, small form factor. Come to me SGH-i620!
just keep it closed and dial a recent number or your contacts
Looks kinda lame to me.
I have to disagree with you- I think the BlackJack is a very beautiful phone. It's simple, has clean lines, and most importantly, is 100% black. I hate silver phones, and this one looks damned ugly imo.
so the question is whether the the sliding mechanism will make it thick and bulky. i can't find any specs on how thick it is other than the height and width.

it's official info from internal sources, thou it's not full.
...guess I'm just used to the always present keyboard of my Dash. The new Samsung would be great if it had a touchscreen with an on-screen dialpad; with the slider being used for text stuff...
