Verizon exclusivity ends, YouTube Mobile opens the gates
Alright, everyone go quit your jobs and pick up second (and third) batteries for your handsets: YouTube Mobile has gone live. As previously reported, YouTube was apparently merely biding its time while Verizon's exclusivity deal ran its course before flipping the switch, so now we can all enjoy several hundred editor's picks -- the supposed cream of the YouTube crop -- in mobile-friendly 3GP format (though word has it they're eventually planning a full mobile implementation). Initial testing on our Nokia N76 review unit suggests that 3G data is highly recommended, but we somehow suspect we'll still manage to sink our productivity to record lows even on crappy EDGE. Hit up m.youtube.com to check it out; we'll be on the couch with our eyes glued to our phones if you need us.[Thanks, David]

I got nothing on my BB8830
I tried youtube mobile with Verizon LG enV and LG Venus. For both phones, when I try to play video links, I get a 'malformed URL' response.
Is Verizon blocking youtube videos based on phone models? Or do I need to do some special setup on my phone.
Doesn't work on Windows Mobile phones, WMP errors out when trying to stream the file. Shame :(
Yeah, and there are only about 5 or 6 videos to choose from.
F+ for now.
I wouldn't count out all of Windows Mobile because WMP isn't cooperating with the RTSP and 3gp stream format. There should be an app or two for WinMo that supports RTSP, HTC makes a Media Streamer app that is bundled in some devices that supports RTSP, not sure about the 3gp part. Perhaps the Kinoma media player ( www.kinoma.com )?
WM6 FTW!
Damn, CorePlayer on WM wont use the RTSP protocal. Word has it, that HTC's Streaming Media app works on PPC, no love for Smartphones though.
Works perfectly on the e61i over WIFI
No worky on my BB 8100 either.. :-/
this is whatsup most def!!!
works for me fine and there are more than 5 videos
Doesn't work on my Q :( It got the same error as the YouTube Mobile
Looks like it works on my Helio Ocean! Awrite! :D
You wrote "...everyone go quit your jobs and pick up second (and third) batteries for your handsets ..."
What's that? Do you want to upset the (future) owner of iPhone?
You should know that they can only have one (the only one) battery in their cool and cute iPhone!
*lol*
Doesn't work on my 6600, i'll have to try it on my n90.
Works perfectly on my Sony Ericsson, but the quality is pretty low, especially when scaled up to QVGA. Why didn't they keep the original quality? The bitrate is low enough to stream (I've used YouTube while tethered before)
And yeah there are actually pretty many videos. I wonder what criteria they're using to select videos
There are many WM6 ROMs available at XDA. I tried the Black Shadow. It comes with the HTC Media Streaming player and and it works great with the m.YouTube video.
Got the M1 running it widescreen.. Love it! And there are many more than 5 videos, you have to go to the Menu to find them all!
Am I missing something? What's the link? - when I try to go to www.youtube.com I get the same error (No Javscript / Flash) that I've always gotten. mobile.youtube.com comes up as cannot find the address, and www.youtubemobile.com comes up as a dead URL that is for sale.
maybe if you read the article you wouldn't be having thi problem.
Hit up m.youtube.com to check it out;
Works perfectly on the 755p!!
Also works beautifully on my Palm Treo 700p with VZW, awesome!
works great on a V3xx (3G comes in handy here!)
however, the current selection is a joke... there's hardly anything available when you do an actual search... so for now it's pretty lame... hope it improves...
at least the crappy youtube vid quality gets somewhat masked by virtue of watching on such a small screen ;-)
peace
Works on my Helio Ocean to just have to use this link http://m.youtube.com/
anyone find out how to get it to work on the q9m yet? with windows 6
