Get ready for a life more ordinary: Nokia just loosed three mid-range phones for all your middle management dreams. The 6267 (€240/$322) clamshell features dedicated music keys, a 2 megapixel camera with flash, 3G data, and up to 4GB of storage expansion you'll have to locate yourself. The 6121 classic (€260/$349) on the left goes quadband GSM and WCDMA 2100 and "900" (
we presume is a Nokia typo meaning 1900) with HSDPA data and packs in a couple of cameras topping out at 2 megapixels. Bringing up the tail is the budget 3500 classic (€135/$181) candybar which ships with an FM radio, 2 megapixel camera, and about 3 hours of talk time or 12 days of standby. All are expected to ship by Q3 in quiet fulfillment of your prosaic ambitions.
Update: Oh lord, the
spec sheet is up and sure enough the 6121 goes WCDMA at 900MHz. That makes it one of, if not
the first production caliber phone to do so. The lower frequency is meant to complement 2100MHz deployments by extending UMTS coverage in Europe.
actually, i think i read somewhere that NK was working on a HSDPA 900 network for Finland...correct me if i'm wrong, but maybe this is a testing/launch phone for that network?
The 3500 is a sharp looking phone. Too bad it's "low end". I wouldn't mind a Symbian w/ those looks.
The 3500 doesn't have the Nokia logo above the screen. Interesting.
A three of them can be a wireless webcam for laptop or PC using Mobiola Web Camera. Can get here: http://www.warelex.com/products/webcam
Engadget's scathing review of the 6267 is way overcooked and off the mark. The 6267's 4 gig memory capacity, A2DP, choice of four colors, higher resolution video capture than any other 2 megapixel handset to date, among numerous other new features contradict the review. The Li-Ion 1020 mAh battery doubles the talk time to 6.5 hours from the 6131 and 6133 models. For all the Symbian and Window's fans, it probably won't even get a second glance, but for those who aren't interested in applications, then this will be a revolution. Including it the same review of the 6121 classic and the 3500 classic is also an injustice. Candy bar phones should have stayed in the last century where they belong. People will argue that the N95 is the best thing since sliced bread, but I contend that it's ugly, boring, main screen is exposed to elements, and wouldn't own it even if it were gold plated. Looks like the 6267 is not going to reach the States though. Regional Availability:
