The iPhones have landed, iPlan in tow
Day one of iPhone release week begins today dear friends, so you can expect a flurry of activity throughout the week as we ready for Friday the 29th. The first iPhone shipments began arriving this past weekend at various airports across the nation -- apparently greeted by armed personnel -- and will soon be in the loving arms of FedEx. The shipping plans for Friday call for FedEx drivers to deliver the goods in teams (one must carry the boxes, the other wields a big stick) for the 6pm store opening. The Boy Genius may have found some details on the iPhone data plan, purportedly dubbed the "iPlan." The word is that this unlimited data plan -- unlimited at EDGE speeds is, of course, by definition a bit limiting -- will squeeze your wallet for between $34 and $44 dollars and may include 2,000 or unlimited text messages. Keep an eagle eye on AT&T's site for that; we can't all get into line on Friday without knowing what we're signing up for, right? We hope?

What the iPhone brings to the table in consumer goodness, it more than lacks in the business enterprise arena. How am I going to ditch my pocket pc when I can't even access my corporate email securely!? iphailure.com has some really interesting articles about the iPhone's "capabilities."
I would just like to know, when have any Apple products been oriented for business users? Ok, then you should not be surprised by the offerings of the iPhone. It's for people who like to have cool looking gadgets that play their favorite songs... that's what the iPods have always been about (and ease of use).
I just don't understand why people whine and expect the iPhone to be a Blackberry replacement when it's obviously not, and it's not even being marketed as a true "Smartphone"
meh...highly doubt all the iphone shipments will be so heavily guarded. im a package handler at fedex and me along with all the other handlers and couriers could really give a shit about your package no matter how many "fragile" stickers and crap are plastered all over the box. unless apple is paying fedex off a huge bundle of cash none of thats gonna happen. ill probably be throwing your iphones 10-15 feet from the trucks to the belts later this week :)
