iPhone syncs with Outlook and Entourage -- kind of
It was definitely quickly glossed over in today's iPhone activation and sync walkthrough, but Apple pretty clearly stated that Mac users with Entourage can sync their calendars with the iPhone through iTunes, and PC users can sync their Outlook calendars the same way. That's totally heartening for any corporate calendar users wondering how they were going to get their datebooks on their new phone, but there was no mention whatsoever of contact syncing via Outlook / Entourage for Active Directory, just Apple Address Book and Yahoo Address Book (which could potentially leave PC users in the lurch).

I can't help but wonder how the iPhone became a corporate business phone. Apple is totally marketing this phone to consumers, not business customers. Why are people all up in arms that it doesn't sync with AD for Outlook? Why would Apple include such a feature on a consumer phone?
becasue even though we are consumers - we have jobs! and would prefer to carry only 1 device
@Drew
Are you serious? Do you know how many home users use Outlook as a contact database? Or how many consumer smartphone users already sync their phones to their computers using Outlook?
I'm always amazed when people ask why a product should be able to do something that they personally don't use it for. We all have different setups chachi and there are a lot of us who use Outlook at home.
I'm wondering if we'll be able to sync these with multiple machines (work, home). Currently, the iPods can't do that (at least, not my work PC and my Mac at home).

You guys do realize that Apple's own site says you can synchronize your contacts with Outlook, right? Just because the video doesn't mention it doesn't mean it isn't there.
Most corporate mail environments are just that. It's amazing when someone comes to you with the newest funky device and expect to be able to connect to your internal mail server from the internet.
Ummm.... talk about a security breach!!! Let's just expose our corporate exchange server to the internet so some joe blow user can get email. That is what OMA (Outlook mobile access) is for. Either that or get a damn Blackberry!
you have to update your Entourage to 11.3. With this version in your PREFERENCES you'll have Sync Services, this will sync Entourage with Address Book. Bingo.

I have yet to successfully sync iPhone with Entourage. No Entourage option appears under the "info" tab on the iPhone page in iTunes.
Does Albert's comment imply that this has to be done indirectly -- via Address Book? I hope not, that sounds very cumbersome.
TO SYNC ENTOURAGE TO IPHONE..........
Go to preferences in Entourage
Choose Sync Preferences
Click on the Items that you want to be synced.
Then go to the Apple control panel and click .Mac
Then you click on the sync button and all the entourage will move to .Mac
When you sync your iPhone all the data will be put into the phone.
Looks like iPXSync is offering a 'native' way to sync between Exchange and iPhone. Has anyone got a beta invite and tried it yet?
