iPhone stress test: how did it do?
The Internets are a cruel place when it comes to first generation uber-hyped gear. So goes the iPhone stress test conducted by PC World. Now, how do you think that 3.5-inch sheet of glass stacked onto a slim 11.6-mm chassis held up? Well, in tests which found the iPhone in a 30 to 40 rep shake 'n bake with a bag full of key chains; on the business end of a deliberate cold-steel scratch attempt on the display; and dropped to concrete at heights (note plural) of up to about 6-feet, it came away with just a few scuffs along the metal edge. Right, no damage to the display. Be sure to check all the behind-split-finger gore in their video.

very interesting....i'm glad apple made sure that the screen couldn't be easily damaged
When the iPod Video and Nano came out, I saw people keep them in their back pockets and sit down on the subway. You would hear a large crack and watch them take the device out and see the glass cracked.
This will happen with the iPhone too.
Dude Mark, that's because the people you saw were probably very obese... by 100+ pounds!!!! Glass doesn't crack that easily, why don't you try to sit down on an iPod sized piece of glass on a subway seat. Oh that's right, I'm sorry, you'll jump through the roof if it breaks as a result of the glass going into your rear end. Thus, I conclude you are lying, because if people actually sat down on their iPods and they broke, your city would have a major subway train derailment problem. Plus, I'm in the subway sitting on my iPod which is in my back pocket right now and I can assure you that it hasn't broken, nor have I gone through the roof.
Why would you put it in your back pocket anyway? If I need to, I only put my ipod in my front pocket.
Yes! I'm glad I didn't get ripped off and buy a case for it. I left the clear plastic screen protector it comes with on but after seeing this video, I definitely won't be buying a case.
@Mark..
yes its true alot of people have cracked their screens.. but ive my ipod nano first gen since release and I always keep it in my back pocket, the screen is fine! Then again im not fat.
